Montana Poker Rooms - Texas Holdem Nuts

Randy J Caldwell

Texas holdem nuts refers to the best possible hand combination in poker at that particular moment. A lot will depend on how much of a nut hand that a player has; a poker player may have the best possible hand after the flop, however that hand may be beatable on the turn or the river. It might seem wonderful for a player to flop his nut hand, but the truth is it isn´t great as it looks. It will only work for him if he knows how to play it appropriately in order to win.

According to some poker enthusiasts, having the nut hand is all about getting your opponent´s chips. During the game, you wouldn´t want the other players to fold, instead you will want them to stay in the pot and make it grow. The ideal situation would be to extract as many chips as you can from your opponents as the hand progresses.

If in case a player´s hand is not too strong, the best thing for him to do is to usually place a bet which is just a little lower the pot size. By doing that strategy it will give the other players at the table small chances to call. Well others may choose to fold, but likely, most of the players will go all in, and since you have the nut hand obviously your action would be to call.

On the other hand, a player should take a totally different approach if his hand is really good. He should bet just enough to make the other players call and stay in the pot.

You should always remember that in Texas holdem poker play of the hand is greatly affected by a player´s seating position, and of course by the pocket cards which are the only advantage he has from the other players at the table. This is of course, due to the reason that all the community cards at the table are shared with the other players.
