Bear's Den; "The Invaders"

David Walks-As-Bear
Boy oh boy, it´s déjà vu, eh. That´s because, lately, I´ve noted that… we´re not alone. There seem to be many things that are the opposite of what they ought to be. Yep, and this, in turn, has me wondering if it´s not 1967 or '68, all over again. Yeah, that´s because over the past years things have switched around a bunch. Sure, and that´s what makes me think that America is stuck in an episode of… "The Invaders".

Years ago, I was a high school teacher. One day, I asked a group of my students what they wanted to do after they graduated and why. One answered that they wanted to be a doctor "because doctors make a lot of money and drive BMWs." I followed up with "but it´s mostly because you want to help people – right?" The student replied "Nope – it´s just about the money and prestige – that´s all I´m looking for." Now, this didn´t sit well with me, and I explained that I felt their rationale for wanting to be a doc was badly skewed. I clarified that being doctor should primarily be about helping your fellow two-leggeds – not making moola. Lots of professions allow you to make big money. If you made good bucks as a doctor, then that was great, I said, but it shouldn´t be the ´why´ of choosing this particular profession. I relayed that people go to docs for help and this kind of assistance necessitates ´a caring´ for your fellow man, woman and child. If making money was your primary reason for wanting to become a doctor then they were doing it for the wrong reasons.

Well, my thoughts about this made the student angry, and this was relayed to the student´s parents, which didn´t make them happy and glee, either. Next step was a meeting with the principle to discuss the situation after they complained. I explained my reasoning for saying what I had said. I stated that I sure wouldn´t change ´teaching´ what I knew to be right – no matter who disliked it – that was me laying down my gauntlet. In the end… he agreed with me and that was that. But man, in this backwards world, with incognito aliens everywhere… I doubt that it´d go the same today. For a traditional Indian like me, the student´s philosophy equaled doing something for the wrong reasons (the underlying motive). In other words, it looked good but was actually wrong – backwards, eh. Yes´um, and just because society accepts this modes operandi, that doesn´t mean that it´s correct or… morally right. Yet, today, this philosophy is far too prevalent in our society. Now you may not agree, and that´s fine. But … just like old ´David Vincent"… I know the truth about "The Invaders".

"The Invaders" was a TV series that ran from 1967-68. The premise of the show was that aliens from another world were here and were already involved in an advanced plan to take over the planet Earth. The lead character was a guy named David Vincent, played by actor Roy Thinnes. Yes´sir, in "The Invaders", old Dave was initially all alone with the knowledge of this well-hidden alien agenda. So, in every episode, he was trying to thwart their plans and look for proof to show the world about these incognito invaders, eh. The aliens were able to take human form and you could only tell the real McCoy by a few distinctive things: they didn´t bleed, they had no pulse, their ring fingers were mutated and, when they died, they glowed a pretty red and disintegrated. Uh-huh, the aliens´ whole plan was to infiltrate and ´invade´ places in human government and private organizations and corrupt them from the inside, thus eventually destroying mankind. If the goal of the group was to help people with this or that, then the invaders within that group would do the exact opposite. I mean, their ultimate goal was to get rid of humans – right? So, see what I´m saying? So, today it´s a déjà vu everywhere. Don´t agree? Well, consider this then, eh.

Take the American Association of Retired People (AARP). Their gig is supposed to be assisting older folks who have retired. But the executive director of the AARP has decided that the best way to help older folks is to… well… get rid of as many as possible. That would sure cut down on the problems of the senior citizens, eh. He seems to figure that he can best achieve this by supporting the national healthcare redistribution that would, indeed, if passed eventually cut down on the number of living and breathing seniors. Don´t believe me? Well, check with his staff and you´ll likely learn… that he never bleeds from paper cuts. Not only that, but he can´t wear a wedding ring for, well… obvious reasons, hmm. But he´s not a lone invader – heck no. There are many, and they have infiltrated numerous groups in the private and government sectors alike. Jeeze, the executive director of the International Hunter Education Association (IHEA) has apparently decided that the best way to assure safe hunting is to, well… discourage any young hunters from getting into the sport. Fewer hunters equates to fewer accidents – right? Yeah, and the Director of Homeland Security seems to think that the most serious threats we face here in America´s homeland… is all of those pesky Veterans... returning from fighting against the threats to our country over in the Middle East. Um-hmm, and while I´m in no position to prove it – I´d wager that none of these people actually has a heartbeat, either – I´m just say´n, eh.

This invasion has been progressing for years, and there are many who inhabit places of two-legged leadership within private and public organizations. Sure, and their actions… are just the opposite of what they should be. To my mind, this is because they are invaders, existing in positions where they have no moral business being. Their thought processes are just the opposite of what they should be for what they do for these groups. So if you always wondered about somebody who is deceased now, and… you really wanted to know… you could contact their family and ask if they saved a bundle on cremation costs, hmm? Okay, okay – but you probably get my drift – right? This invasion is has been ongoing for a long time. Um-hmm, and it sounds an awful lot like one of the old TV series´ plots to me, eh. You bet´cha, and that´s why I think… America is stuck in an episode of… "The Invaders".
