Your starting Texas holdem hands are the two hole cards that you will receive face down from the dealer. Experts say that there are 1320 good starting combinations or hands in Texas Holdem poker. This is true when using a deck that has 52 cards in it. Take note that in reading poker hands, the suit normally has of no value. For example, an ace spade and a 7 of diamonds are no different from an ace club and a 7 of spades. When thinking of starting hands, you might want to know that there can be 160 different starting hands wherein 13 are pocket pairs, 78 are of the same suit and 78 are of different suits.
Early in the round, there are more than twenty starting hands that can possibly win a Texas Holdem poker game with ten players. And the chances of winning with these twenty starting hands are often greater than 1 out of 7.
