Texas holdem poker rags refer to cards that are low ranking and most poker players, if not all, won´t like them to be their pocket cards because they are considered terrible to play. Aside from being cards that are low in rank, rags are pair of pocket cards that do not work well together and very low in value. If you´re playing Texas holdem poker, 6-3 hole cards would be considered rags.

Poker player will resent having rags to be a starting hand, due to the fact that the possibility of improvement is very slim and are usually folded immediately, well unless otherwise, a miracle combination of cards appears on the flop/board. For example, a hand like Q-3 and K-2 can still be considered rags. It is due to the reason that these cards don´t work together and can also be problematic if in case the high cards pairs leaving kicker problems.

Another type of pocket cards that poker players find hard to play are the so called off suit cards. The term Texas holdem off suit refers to any two cards that are dealt to a particular player that are not of the same suit. So let´s say for instance a player´s starting Texas holdem hand is a Kh-9s, then that would be called a "king-ten-off suit" because obviously hearts and spade belongs to different suit.

Poker players find playing off suit cards as a starting hand very limiting since it will be much more difficult for them to make a flush. Of course, if compared to players holding two suited cards, he will only need three more of his suit to appear among the five community cards.
