Flower & Garden Shows Bring An Early Spring To Maine
Portland Flower Show - In early March join the Portland Flower Show at the held at the Portland Company Complex. The Flower Show will feature 18 exhibits created by professional landscapers, each interpreting the theme "Gardens Gone Wild" with creative displays of stone, trees, shrubs and flowers that have been forced into bloom months ahead of their normal time. Over 85 vendors will also provide a unique marketplace of garden related products and interesting items for the home.
For the younger crowd, there is a Children's Discovery Garden to entertain kids with activities including a scavenger hunt - a way for both children and their parents to see each garden in the main exhibit area, and "make and take" projects. Each day a skit is presented by the "Veggie People," walking - talking vegetables, who talk about nutritious vegetable snacks and ways for families to grow edible flowers to enjoy with salads and snacks.
Bangor Garden Show - Gardening enthusiasts will be pleased to know the Bangor Garden Show is returning after a one-year hiatus in Mid April in the Bangor Auditorium. Landscapers will design verdant and colorful displays, and the show awards prizes in categories such as Best in Show and People's Choice.
New England Home, Garden & Flower Show - In Mid May the Northern New England Home, Garden & Flower Show in Fryeburg offers flower lovers a variety of exhibitors, speakers, artists, crafters, and demonstrations. Held at the Fryeburg Fairgrounds, the show occupies seven large exhibit halls and six acres of the fairgrounds with outside displays. In a county fair-like environment, there are hundreds of vendor booths to peruse while enjoying the warm spring weather.
