Albert Haynesworth Should Be Banned From The NFL

Robert Paul Reyes
A 6-foot-6, 320 pound thug stomps on a fallen man, then repeatedly kicks and stomps on his face. The victim needs 30 stitches to repair the damage inflicted by the savage animal. There are scores of witness to this act of mayhem and brutality.

You would think that people would be clamoring for this animal to be caged, but unfortunately it looks like charges may not be pressed.

This criminal act did not take place in a bar or an alley but in front of tens of thousands of fans watching the Tennessee Titans play the Dallas Cowboys in Nashville, and before millions more watching the game on TV.

It was Tennessee Titan Albert Haynesworth who stomped on Dallas Cowboy center Andre Gurode's head, knocking off his helmet, then kicked and stomped his face. Haynesworth raked his cleats across the face of Gurode, it's a miracle he didn't blind his victim.

Haynesworth's act of wanton violence drew a five-game suspension -- the longest for on-field behavior in NFL history. The brute won't be paid while he serves the suspension, effective immediately, which will cost him approximately $190,000.

But it's not enough, this despicable excuse for a human being should be permanently banned from the NFL. And Gurode should do the right thing and demand that charges be brought against Haynesworth.

Haynesworth offered this apology:

"What I'd like to say is that I'm very sorry, I apologize to Andre. What I did was disgusting. It’s something that should never happen. I mean I'm not a dirty player. I don't play dirty. I have respect for the game.

What I feel like is I disgraced the game, disgraced my team and disgraced my last name. …When I was sitting here in the locker room when the game was going on, I was looking at my phone, which has my kids on it. I don't want them to have my last name and to think their dad as a dirty player, because I don't play that way. … What I did was disgusting. It doesn't matter what the league does to me."

I don't care how remorseful Haynesworth may appear to be, he shouldn't be fearing the NFL's punishment, in a perfect world he would be afraid of the law coming down on him like a hammer. But at the most he will be required to take an anger management course.
