"Yes We Can" Has Hit a Reality Check

Alan E. Moses
The once hopeful President Obama believed that our system could be changed by the simple will of the people. This of course hit a major roadblock known as our Republican system contrasting with what we are made to believe is our Democratic ways. The truth being that our Capitalistic truth has destroyed itself from within. This system, without major changes will never rebound as we have gone too far down the hill to stop the roll.

The Greeks, Romans and all great societies have fallen due to over expansion and unwillingness to change with an ever changing landscape. With years of fear of a Communist take over from the Soviet Russians we allowed the Communist Chinese who exploited our greed to in fact have the upper hand without one shot being fired.

We allow the few who benefit from this system we defend so strongly to gain from doing what was once considered treason by allowing the enemy (Communists) to have control. Capitalists now owe the dreaded Communists billions upon billions of dollars. And yet nothing is being done to change this dire situation.

Millions of Americans sit home unemployed as they watch the system that their fathers and mothers once sacrificed for decline before their eyes. Ten dollars an hour won't do for middle class, The debt nationally and personally has climbed beyond our ability to pay. A Health Care system in turmoil, Banking abusing what once was a system that worked for all. And an insurance industry that is taking billions for reasons unknown.

"Yes We Can" was a dream we all longed for and now see that the real powers that be won't allow these changes to take place. Who benefits from things staying the same? Only the ultra rich as our middle class that once thrived dwindles away. The haves and have nots being driven further apart.

I support the Idea of "Yes We Can" but know in my heart that unless we all get involved nothing good will happen. As our nation crumbles we can do little but struggle to find our own individual way and can't be bothered with the big picture. Destiny is what has been bred and this will unfold in the next 50 years as the once mighty United states falls behind the new economic giants of Communist China and the nation of India.

We have nobody else to blame but ourselves as it was our apathy that allowed this all to happen. Our government relied on this to take our rights and exploit our willingness to look the other way. This Government that was a promise to be "By the people and for the people" never really was. Truth in History will show this in the generations to come.

Is anyone willing to stop this decline? Are you willing to stand up and say "What are you doing?" Can we unite for one last chance to make some changes that will turn the tables on the life we are heading into? Can we allow a President to do what he promised or just continue not to understand? The truth is that "Yes we can". But we must be active and stand up and not rely on one person or political party for the changes to come. We must be willing to fight the fight and stop standing by watching as we are the ones who lose.
