There’s Hysteria Then There’s Reality
Congress has adjourned so the candidates can come back to their districts to try to convince the voters they’re worthy of another term in office. They don’t mind doing so at the expense of their opponent, usually the incumbent and his or her opponent manages to keep the accusations and insults on an even keel, when did you stop using the ‘N” word, [countered with] “Is you wife still a hooker in Vegas” trash talking seems to be what they feel the voters are interested in, I would like to think we deserve better.
A few years ago a candidate in a South Texas race was defeated because his opponent accused him of being practicing homophobic heterosexual, things haven’t changed much since then.
Mud slinging isn’t new to American Politics the most prolific prevaricators of slander seems to be the Media. The first amendment to the constitution never intended to give freedom from fact to the Media. It simply meant the government shouldn’t be in the business of disseminating or in any way controlling the news. The ink wasn’t dry when journalists made their stand of total immunity from oversight including their employers.
For some months now the Media’s been predicting the Democrats may take back the House if not the Senate as well and all they have to substantiate their predictions is their own biases. The basis for their prediction is the failed Presidency of George W Bush. So far no one’s been able to prove of any failures of this president, they say he’s failed but they can’t say where, when or why. When it’s pointed out all the economic indicators are at an all time high the best one gets from a liberal is “What if they don’t stay up.” that’s not an explanation it’s a burp. The next thing they say is the war in Iraq is a failure, by whose standard? Then it’s Bush hasn’t captured Osama bin Laden, no he’s holed up in a cave in Pakistan afraid to show his face commanding an organization in shambles. When Osama gets to heaven he’ll be lucky to get one old hooker due to his cowardness there’ll be no virgins.
All Bush’s opponents have to hope for is a bunch of “what if’s” what if this or that or something else goes wrong, on the other hand George Bush has the privilege of knowing things have only gotten better since he became president. Clinton’s robust economy was based of fraud and corruption that soon disintegrated when the actual deficit was once again recognized and the Attorney General un-muzzled his troops to go after the investment giants who were stealing form the average American at an unprecedented rate. Due primarily short memories and Liberal propaganda few people realize what George Bush has accomplished in his time in office. He reinvigorated a failing economy, Cleaned up corporate corruption, took the air out of on over inflated stock market, fought two wars freeing 50 million oppressed people from virtual slavery, exposed a corrupt United Nations and managed to fight off a pack of coyote liberals.
When it comes to politics and what’s supposed to happen rather than what actually happens the public is about as interested as they are in a box of rocks. Every two years they go to their polling booth push a button, punch a card or make some kind of a mark and pray nothing goes wrong until next time.
Unfortunately too few of us are interested in politics although our numbers are growing due to the internet and the way information is being disseminated in this new cyber world we’re forced to comply with.
What ever happened to the good old days when a puff of smoke from the side of a mountain told the Indians when the Cavalry was coming?
Republicans have a great deal to correct in the next two years unless of course they want to become know as Democrats II. They’ve spend money like a Hollywood Harlot. They allow Democrats to push them around like they were in a wheel chair. But above all they don’t have the courage of [our convections.] We elect men and women to serve us not exploit us. I’ll take one Harry Truman over a dozen John McCain’s any day. Robert Byrd is running for reelection not to serve the people of West Virginia rather to become the oldest politician in the Guinness Book of Records.
Politics is a joke, some day hopefully it’ll be taken seriously, some day young men and women will decide there’s more to this countries ruling body than partisan bickering. It costs $ 1,137,806,000 [That’s with a B.] to run the House of Representatives each year. That’s $2.6 million per representative. I don’t know about you all but I feel short changed.
In five weeks the voters will have the opportunity to make some needed changes let’s hope they do just that. Vote no for incumbents regardless of party. Cleaning out congress has to start somewhere.
