The Memo That Should Have Been Sent To Iraq Before The Invasion

Judy Ramsook
Bias. It’s all over. If two young girls or boys (one white, the other black or a member of a minority race) go missing around the same time, chances are, the missing white person will receive more media attention than the other individual.

In the matter of war, there is no difference. The more powerful nation feels it has the right to do as it pleases, even if it forced a war by invasion, such as what there is in Iraq today. If one is an impartial humanitarian though, just tuning in to the news can make one switch channels. For the way the portion of news is presented seems rather one sided. It is so one sided that one might think, maybe the current administration should have given the Iraqi people and government a memo as to why they singled out Iraq for their fight against terrorism. Below is a memo I have comprised, given what we now know concerning this battle against terrorism.

To: Mr. Saddam Hussein, other Iraqi dignitaries and civilians of Iraq:

Since the tragedy of 9/11, most Americans think it’s only right to seek revenge against an Islamic nation. In doing so, your nation of Iraq has been singled out for the cause, even though there were no Iraqi terrorists on board any of those airplanes on that day America will never forget. There are several reasons and other thoughts for this:

Irag was singled out because we and our allies believe you, Mr. Hussein are storing WMDs. Weapons that will someday be used against your enemy and we also believe you have strong ties with the Al Quaida Taliban.

We will invade your country, but when we do so, we are not expecting your soldiers, rebels, insurgents or whatever name we have chosen to refer to them to put up much of a fight.

We expect you to surrender, just as your soldiers did back in the Gulf War. Your soldiers cannot beat us anyway. For we, the most powerful nation in the world and our allies have the most advanced high tech weapons and tanks. So just give it up, will you? By the way, this little exercise is supposed to last two weeks tops.

Another reason Iraq was singled out is because we have to do something to show the American people we are doing what it takes to avenge those 3,000 plus deaths on 9/11.

If this is not done, the surviving members of those victims will feel as if we are doing nothing. Moreover, if nothing is done, those surviving family members will feel as if their loved ones died in vain.

Furthermore, if one of your civilians or insurgents dies as a result of this exercise, do not make a big deal of it.

For the only lives that are important here are those of the Americans and its allies. If one of our soldiers dies in battle, we can fuss over it all day long on the news networks if we like.

One more thing. Mr. Hussein. We also intend to capture you and your sons so Iraq will no longer have a strong line of leadership. For all the hurt you have caused your own people, you don’t deserve to be a leader anyway.

Brace yourselves, for your little country in the Middle East is about to be destroyed and forever changed.
