How about Coming Clean Mr President?

Earl J. Prignitz
When will the President come clean with the American people? Is anyone else bothered by that question? It haunts me night and day! It seems very clear that in the case of Karl Rove he is putting his personal and political loyalties above his Presidential obligations to America. We all heard him proclaim repeatedly that he would fire anyone that was responsible at the White House who might in any way be involved in revealing the identity of the CIA operative that was married to the former Ambassador Wilson

Just the other day I heard one after another former CIA agent, testifying at the Senate and House of Representative’s investigation, denounce this illegal revealing of a secret agent as being extremely dangerous. It just illustrates how some White House operatives deemed it acceptable to break the law and endanger our American national security simply for political advantage. Because Wilson had found that Iraq had not tried to purchase the yellow cake uranium from Africa and reported those facts to the Bush Administration he was out of favor with the War lords. The Bush Administration continued to spread the false rumors at every opportunity in order to get us into the War with Iraq that was illegal and totally unnecessary. As a result over 1,700 troops have lost their lives, thousands more are seriously wounded and hundreds of Iraqi's are dead.

Then when Wilson revealed the truth, his reputation was smeared. We have all heard about the part of the smear campaign, Karl Rove and other highly placed White House operatives that are attached to the Vice President revealed that Wilson’s wife was a CIA covert agent. Immediately her contacts were blown and their lives were at risk. Her identity was leaked by the columnist Robert Novak, who received the info from non other than Karl Rove. But since Karl Rove is the long time friend and political advisor of George W. Bush he seems to be above the law of the land. Rove is so powerful that he probably will escape the axe. So what else is new under this Bush rule? I would really like to know!
