Is [Bill] Clinton A Victim ?
Former President Clinton’s performance on Fox News Sunday was perhaps the docudrama of the season. He came with a message and Chris Wallace and Fox News was going to give him a platform to correct his legacy like it or not. Mr. Wallace’s second or third question lit the fuse that set Clinton off on his well rehearsed tangent. Poor Chris he was dumbfounded when Clinton exploded, he must have felt like he’d been locked in a cage with an 800 pound Gorilla.
Was President Clintons rage real, probably was it spontaneous hardly. Fox News had given Mr. Clinton an opportunity other Media outlets hadn’t and wouldn’t. He’d be asked tough unrehearsed questions, there’d be no rules of engagement getting in the way this would be Clintons 30 minutes of retribution. He could look in Chris Wallace’s face and see Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter and so many more right wing Conservative Pundits, [Riff Raff] who regularly call him to accountability for his actions. Because of the Fox principle of “Fair and Balanced News” Clinton knew he’d be privileged to express his views and he also knew he’d be challenged. Clinton was prepared like never before, there were moments when his enthusiasm got ahead of his script.
Bill Clinton is a master of manipulation he has the unique ability to turn wine into water, [you heard me.] Clinton had a message especially after the docudrama of 9 / 11 was shown on television around the world. Clinton couldn’t let what he considered a total fabrication of his involvement in repelling terrorist activities on Americans go unchallenged.
Clinton needed a venue to shed his appearance of incompetence in exchange for victim status. Clinton needed someone or something that he could challenge, he knew the MSM would begin by agreeing and praising him, that wasn’t what he wanted. He needed an advisory and who better than his old nemesis Fox News. No one at Fox expected him to come out swinging and breathing fire. This was a Clinton we haven’t seen since the Congressional impeachment hearings.
The Sunday appearance by Clinton on Fox was a win win for both Fox and Clinton. Liberals who wouldn’t normally watch Fox did to see their hero beat up on Mr. Wallace. People who normally could care less about Clinton watched to see Clinton taken down a peg or to, I called it a draw.
The question is why did Clinton feel the need to go on Fox the network he considers enemy territory. Why didn’t he go on CNN, [The Former Clinton News Network?] why not one of the mainstream media networks ABC, CBS, or NBC. Probably because it wouldn’t have attracted an audience as large as Fox News Clinton on Fox is news Clinton on one of the other networks would be just another half hour of boredom.
Clinton felt he needed to get the message to Conservative America that he didn’t ignore the terrorist attacks. Admitting failure was less embarrassing than being seen as being weak on terror. Clinton acted in the same manor the rest of the world took it tolerated the terrorists with minimal reactions. Then along came George [Cowboy] Bush, John Wayne’s mirror image and took on terror full force. This wasn’t supposed to happen,
The terrorists weren’t concerned with the war they were willing to accept individual battles to claim successes. Bill Clinton understood this as long as the attacks were minimal he and his administration were content with an occupational swat at the pesky terrorist fly to make it appear he was doing something. The diplomacy of gifts and promises were enough to keep things in check. It was George Bush who upset all of that by changing the menu. It was no longer one from column A and one from column B. Now it’s all from column A or nothing.
I believe Bill Clinton chose the wrong conservative to mess with. Fox News subscribers aren’t easley fooled by such a performance as Bill Clinton put on Sunday. If there’s anything that irritates a Fox person it’s to have some Slick Dandy stick his finger in their face and talk down to them.
