Senator George Allen: If It Quacks Like A Duck...
If a man poses for his high school yearbook picture wearing a Confederate flag pin, collects Confederate flags, delights in doing photo ops with racist groups, displays a noose in his law office, is ashamed of his Jewish roots and calls a minority an obscure racial slur while the cameras are rolling…he’s a racist.
And if he has also been accused by legitimate sources of referring to African Americans as “niggers”, he’s a racist.
From Salon.com:
Three former college football teammates of Sen. George Allen say that the Virginia Republican repeatedly used an inflammatory racial epithet and demonstrated racist attitudes toward blacks during the early 1970’s.
Allen said he came to Virginia because he wanted to play football in a place where ‘blacks knew their place,’” said Dr. Ken Shelton, a white radiologist in North Carolina who played tight end for the University of Virginia football team when Allen was quarterback. ‘He used the N-word on a regular basis back then.’”
Can there be any doubt left that Senator George Allen is a racist? There may be a one in a million chance that George Allen didn’t know that “Macacca” was a racial slur, but there is no doubt that anyone who refers to an African American as ”nigger” is a racist.
Republican leaders should do the right thing and demand that Sen. George Allen withdraw from the Senate race. Do Republicans really want a flat-out racist representing their “Big Tent” party?
Let’s be real, if it quacks like a duck…
