Hastings Lauds Launch of 'South Florida Gay News.com'

Congressional Desk
(Washington, DC) Today, Congressman Alcee L. Hastings (D-Miramar) made the following statement on the launch of South Florida´s newest gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) weekly newspaper, South Florida Gay News.com (SFGN). SFGN was founded by Broward criminal defense attorney and gay rights advocate Norm Kent.

"The first issue of South Florida Gay News.com is truly an exciting and important event. South Florida has long been home to a proud, diverse, and active GLBT community," said Hastings.

"South Florida Gay News.com is more than a newspaper; it is an opportunity for South Florida´s GLBT community to reconnect with itself and the community at large on issues and events spanning the full spectrum of gay American life," further noted Hastings.

"I wish Norm all the best in his new venture and greatly look forward to reading future issues of South Florida Gay News.com."

Over 12,000 copies of SFGN will be published and distributed on Mondays to more than 300 locations in Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties. A web version is available at (www.southfloridagaynews.com).
