Stop Big Polluters From Attacking the Clean Air Act!
monthly newsletter, january
Dear Joseph,
URGENT: Stop big pollutersī attacks on the Clean Air Act!
The Clean Air Act is under attack by big polluters from the coal and oil industries who are trying to avoid responsibility for cleaning up their act.
Alaskan Senator Lisa Murkowski has announced her willingness to work on behalf of these polluters. Today she introduced a resolution to roll back the EPAīs "endangerment finding" regarding greenhouse gas emissions a finding the agency is required to make so that the Clean Air Act can be used to reduce global warming pollution.
We canīt let polluting industries lock us into several more years of dirty fossil fuels. We need to be moving forward with strong policies to stop global warming and kickstart an energy revolution.
Retire Vermont Yankee
Nuclear energy is dangerous, dirty and expensive. Thatīs why Greenpeace is drawing attention to Vermont Yankee. The nuclear reactor is nearing the end of its 40-year operating permit, and the company is seeking a 20-year license renewal.
Vermonters deserve clean energy that is free from potential meltdowns and contamination from dangerous leftover radioactive waste. Retire Vermont Yankee! Greenpeace went to Vermont and talked to the community and brought attention to this very important issue.
Take action today and tell Trader Joe's to stop stalling and to finally adopt sustainable seafood policies.
Global Warming Crime Scene
During the Copenhagen climate negotiations in mid-December, Greenpeace declared the US Chamber of Commerce a "global warming crime scene." Greenpeace activists descended on its Washington, DC headquarters and tried to free the climate talks, which were being held hostage by the Chamber and its clients. Chamber lobbyists work for the very industries that create and profit from criminal climate destruction.
