HARMAN REGRETS DECISION BY NORTHROP GRUMMAN TO MOVE HEADQUARTERS OUT OF CALIFORNIA
Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Jane Harman (D-Venice) issued the following statement in response to the announcement that aerospace giant Northrop Grumman will move its corporate headquarters from Century City to the Washington DC area. Northrop´s Redondo Beach and El Segundo facilities, which employ some 14,300 people, are not affected by the move.
"I call my Congressional District the aerospace center of the universe. A key part of that is Northrop Grumman and the former TRW, which it acquired several years ago. I spoke with Northrop Grumman CEO and President Wes Bush this morning, who assured me that they are not moving their huge installed production facilities and that the South Bay workforce is irreplaceable."
"Rocket scientists don´t grow on trees, and maintaining the region´s aerospace industrial base is essential for national security and the local economy. These are the women and men who won the Cold War, and the synergy between the LA Air Force Base´s Space & Missile Systems Center, the Aerospace Corporation and nearby industry is more important than ever."
