Search Engine Company Moves Office to Portland for Better Search Engine Submission Service
The web site www.ZeroPen.com is also known as http://www.0pn.com. The URL begins with the number zero, not the letter O. Created by Robert Melluish, it does not base its searches on link popularity, unlike most of the larger search engines like Yahoo! and Google.
Webmasters and web site owners are able to submit their domains for inclusion in the ZeroPen.com directory. They can list a domain under their own selected key phrases and key words describing their sites. There is no charge to be listed by the search engine.
The method enables web searchers to find what they need at a faster rate, and without having to dig through page after page of irrelevant results.
"Link popularity is unimportant at ZeroPen," Melluish said. "You don't have to waste time trying to get people to link to your site, in order to gain rankings in our search engine. ZeroPen focuses on search words and phrases, not who you know or what company you keep on the Internet," he added.
In addition, users will not be penalized for associating with sites located in a "bad neighborhood" on the Internet. Webmasters submit a list of URLs (Uniform Resource Locator) to be scanned by the new ZeroPen crawler to be included in the results database.
"We are not your usual search engine, because we have broken away from the norm. We have gone back to the old days on the web when keywords were what mattered," he said.
According to Melluish, the site is easy to access if domain owners wish to make changes to their submissions.
"You can login and make instant changes to your key words or phrases as your web site evolves," he said. "No more waiting months for search engine result pages to be updated."
The company recently moved offices from Klamath Falls to Portland.
