In today´s kitchen industry we find that there is no shortage of kitchen accessories. At times we may actually find ourselves overwhelmed with how many different options we have to choose from. We have put together a few helpful suggestions and tips that may help you in your search for kitchen add-ons.

• Sinks & Faucets:

When it comes to buying a sink, your countertop selection will play a large role in what type of sink you end up choosing. We are all familiar with the drop-in porcelain, cast iron or stainless steel sinks, as they have been commonly seen for many years. These sinks tend to be a little dated and have a tendency to be harder to clean, due to the lip of the sink that overhangs the counter. In a natural stone or quartz top you will typically see consumers going with an undermount sink. Stainless steel is currently the most popular option in undermount sinks. Stainless steel tends to be highly durable and easy to clean. When shopping for stainless steel, pay attention to the gauge of the sink, look for a lower gauge sink (ie. 16 gauge is thicker than 18 gauge) that has sound absorption technology. If you are choosing a Corian top you will have the option of using an undermount or molded sink. The molded sink offers a seamless look that really makes cleaning up a synch. There are also several types of undermount composite sinks available that come in various different colors, and will come in at a similar price point.

• Cabinet Hardware:

Selecting cabinet hardware can be overwhelming because there are hundreds of different styles and colors available. It´s a good idea to visit a local kitchen design showroom and look at the hardware on the various displays. Often times the showrooms will also have hardware boards displayed for you to look at. This will help to not only see the hardware in person, but also see it put to use in a kitchen display. When choosing your hardware try to stay with the theme of your kitchen or house. If you have a more contemporary kitchen, you may want to choose hardware that mimics the style of your cabinet door. Buying hardware does not have to happen only when you purchase a new kitchen. We get a number of customers who want to just upgrade their hardware to help dress up their kitchen. It´s a nice alternative if you don´t have the budget for an entire kitchen renovation.

• Cabinet Accessories:

Today´s cabinets come with an array of different options and gadgets that you can use to help customize your kitchen to fit your lifestyle. You may already be familiar with some of these options, but for those who aren´t here are a few ideas; pull out trash bins, built in tray dividers, roll out shelving, built in cutlery tray, bread drawer, pull out spice racks, etc. There are literally thousands of different options for your future kitchen. Therefore, it is very important to allow your design professional to review with you what options may work best in your space, given your lifestyle. Spend some time in the kitchen design showroom going through the various displays to see which options might work best for you.
