Amhara, Tigray Tyrants Guilty of Racist Discrimination Against Oromos in Abyssinia (Fake Ethiopia)
This reality contradicts speeches full of democratic promises and lectures full of economic pledges hypocritically made by the administrations of the said capitals to either Europeans or Africans.
By now the masks have fallen, and a new document composed by the Oromo Parliamentarians Council clearly demonstrates that all the Western European and North American administrations must be forced - by any means - to change their pro-Abyssinian, racist, Anti-African stance and policies.
I will therefore republish the document in several articles.
Complaint Statement on Racial Discrimination of Political, Social and Cultural Rights of Oromos in Ethiopia
Submitted to Human Rights Watch Africa Department
Ethiopia Human Rights Violations status, November 2009
By Oromo Parliamentarians Council
Introduction
The Oromo Parliamentarians Council (OPC) is established from Oromo Parliamentarians of the second and third round National election. After we, the Oromo parliamentarians realised that we are not only unable to stand for the right of the people, but also unable to stand for our right, we forced to leave our country. Even if we managed to escape from the inhuman treatment and shadow of death and leave for exile, we noted that we have to still work for the people who elected us, Oromo people and Ethiopian people at large. Our objective is to speak out to all what in the regional and federal parliament of Ethiopia failed. Above all to witness to the international communities the hidden human tragedies going on in Ethiopia under façade of democracy.
Our Complaint statement for the occasion of the Human right´s watch on the Horn of Africa (Ethiopia), the process that involves a review of the Ethiopian government human rights records, is a drop in the ocean. We resisted the atrocities of Ethiopian government based on our constituency to the level of carrot and stick, which ultimately resulted us to flee from the country. We like to draw more attention on our statement the issues related to the discrimination on political, economical, social and cultural rights of Oromo people to the UPR Working Group.
Background
Ethiopia is ethnically heterogeneous, comprising more than 80 nations and nationalities with more than 83 languages and 200 dialects spoken by its 86 million people. The Oromo, Amhara and Tigray are the largest ethnic groups making up respectively 50%, 25.6 % and 5.8% of the total population. Although many groups influenced political and cultural life, Amharas and Tigrayans from the northern highlands played a dominant role.
Under the political arena of non-deliberative democracy, such ethnic diversity by itself is a very weak zone for racial discrimination and vulnerable for instigated ethnic conflicts. Examining of racial discrimination in Ethiopia plausibly needs the scrutiny of some dichotomies such as state/people, one nation versus other or regional zone versus the other and etc. In addition to the dictatorial nature of the current government, the historical background of the state formation of modern Ethiopia, the political power, culture, religion, the daunting development challenges and severely limited resources are some of the many foreground factors for the existing racial problems in Ethiopia.
It is a great pleasure to be among you today to share my views and bring the plight of my people, to your attention. Such opportunities are rare, but Ethiopia particularly the East Africa majority nation Oromo cause must mentioned heir first place because no hot issues than Oromo and Somalia cause in the Horn. That is way I want to mention these points:
Ethiopia: Land of Silence and Human Rights Violations
Meles Zenawi has killed tens of thousands of innocent Oromo´s and other nations in Ethiopia. Meles is much more brutal than Omar Al Bashir of Sudan, Sadam Hussein of Iraq and Milosevic of Yugoslavia and Idi Amin Dada of Uganda. The difference is he want to play different card at different time to show as if he is western friendly. He is the most silent killer ever. While we expect him in the Hague, the support European power´s definitely discourage the struggle for justice and democratic reformation in Africa and else where.
Innocent Oromo individuals are being killed in cold blood and denied the honor to get normal burial, some of the dead are left in the forest for hyenas and wild beasts to feast on them. This is what happened in Ciro town in Western Hararge two years ago- the Gara Suufi massacre.
Oromo students who staged for peace protests against the injustice being committed against their people were beaten severely, denied their graduation certificate, dismissed from school and shot dead in school compound; for no crime committed.
There are more than 35000 Oromo political prisoners in Ethiopia, most of them were tortured, shot dead or disabled forever in the same prisons. Oromo intellectuals, businessmen, farmers and civil servants are detained, tortured and humiliated in a way which can be related to systematic eradication of this big nation.
The most shocking tragedy of this regime is that, elected parliamentarians and members of other political parties were subjected to executions and other acts of inhumane treatment. For instance, Mr. Adane was an elected member of the Ethiopian parliament representing the Oromo Peoples Congress Party (OPC). A week after the election of may 2005 a police shot and killed Mr. Adane in Arsi Negele town.
Oromo refugees in Somalia, Sudan, Yemen and Kenya are under unprecedented suffering after fleeing their land, deported in contrary to international convention, and persecuted for the last 18 years of TPLF regime.
As a way to stay on power, the TPLF regime is putting different ethnic groups against each others almost continuously everywhere in Ethiopia, a land known by tolerance and coexistence for centuries is getting the vise-versal reality. For ex. Beneshangul Gumuz war against civil Oromo nationalities which bring thousands victims.
Ethiopia: one ethnic minority manipulating majority
In Ethiopia, all power important ministerial posts and all military and security forces are controlled by 5% ethnic minority Tigrians. All business and investment was controlled by TPLF companies (They are around 1665 with their branches)
Government power – 99.9% of the Ministerial, Agenesis, ambassadors, all country officials are controlled by Ethnic Tigrians only.
Economic - as exemplified by the deep involvement of the TPLF in the Ethiopian economy and its ability to completely monopolize each sector of the country´s economy is using its controlled oligarchs.
Political - due to the fact that those who are at the top of the political power continue to enrich themselves while at the same time suppressing those who object the looting. They have accomplished this by denying them any political space and wiping out the already weak independent media. Mr. Meles continues to use his absolute power and selectively prosecute his political enemies in order to cover-up the criminal behavior committed by the TPLF and its allies.
Legal - due to Meles´s and his cronies´ use and changes of the legal codes to both enrich themselves and attack their political opponents with tramped-up charges.
Military – due to the fact that the military and security wing that are controlled by Mr. Zenawi - the Agazi killer squad - has intensified its intimidation, killings, terror, disappearance of people, and mass-arrests, especially after the 2005 election. The military´s involvement in the contraband and business sector, especially around the border areas also shows how the entire system has become so corrupt. How lethal the Agazi killer squad could be is proved not only by its senseless killings of peaceful protesters after the 2005 election but the military´s willingness to burn the entire villages and wipe out the civilian population in order to fight the militants of the Ogadeni region.
Malas Zenawi used free market and investment to make money by corruption by overselling the Oromo land for chains, Indians, Arab countries and corrupted Djibouti leader. 600000 square kilometer Oromia land already shared for oversells by TPLF Gangsters. The corrupt investment in Ethiopia is illegal and will remain so.
