9/11: Are We Any Safer Five Years Later?
The TSA confiscates my Aqua Velva and my Colgate Extra-Whitening Power toothpaste — my dull teeth a small price to pay to keep the friendly skies free of terrorists. The security guard pats me down, asks me to remove my Nikes and tells me to have a “nice day.”
I’ll have a nice day when our soldiers’ blood stops flowing in Iraq. When will Dubya realize that the desert soil of Iraq will never bring forth democracy? President George W. Bush should declare victory, bring our troops home and let the Sunnis and Shiite kill each other in the name of Allah – like they have been doing since time immemorial.
Bush’s bloody misadventure in Iraq is a diversion from the war against Islamic terrorists. We should be expending our resources in capturing or killing bin Laden and his followers. The Iraq War undermines and distracts us from fighting our real enemy, al Qaeda.
Bush’s war in Iraq has caused chaos in Iraq and division here in America. The common ground America enjoyed following the 9/11 attacks has dissipated and been replaced by rancor and partisan bickering. Bush it turns out is a divider and not a uniter, and we desperately need a visionary who will unite us at this critical juncture in our history. We will never defeat the Jihadists if we don’t come together in a common desire and goal to defeat the enemy.
An inebriated Dick Cheney has a great talent for shooting birds than can’t fly and lawyers who can’t duck, but I doubt that the administration that can’t shoot straight will ever gun down Osama bin Laden.
Are we safer than we were in Sept. 11, 2001? The answer is an unequivocal and resounding “NO”! The al Qaeda threat has metastized and our commander-in-chief refuses to pull out of Vietnam, excuse me, I mean Iraq.
Sept. 11, 2009
A regime change in America has brought healing and made us safer. It’s too bad that we had to wait so long to replace the “war president”, with a leader who values making peace as much as he does waging war.
Our soldiers are home and America is once again respected around the world. The war against Islamic terrorists goes on, but now we are aiming our bullets at the real enemy.
Sept. 11, 2001
We will never forget this day that demonstrated to the world the resolve, courage and greatness of the American people. Let’s say a prayer for the victims and their families, and hope that America will once again be as united as it was during the immediate aftermath of 9/11.
