Gullibility?...or Political Showmanship?

“Mr Annan said Iran was prepared to discuss its uranium enrichment programme, but would not suspend the work before negotiations.”

Does Mr. Annan really think that Iran is going to halt uranium enrichment after negotiations?

European Union foreign ministers agreed on Saturday to give diplomacy two more weeks to clarify Iran's stance on halting sensitive nuclear work after Tehran ignored a U.N. deadline to stop uranium enrichment.”

What about the EU? Do they really think that talks with Iran is going to change anything?

European Union foreign ministers agreed on Saturday to give diplomacy two more weeks to clarify Iran's stance on halting sensitive nuclear work after Tehran ignored a U.N. deadline to stop uranium enrichment.”

Is Mr. Annan trying to bring some credibility back to the UN where it appears that the UN is an institution doomed from lack of creditability?

The EU has been struggling since its inception to prove its worth and power when really it was a major mistake from the beginning.

Solana said he would also speak to Larijani on behalf of the six powers -- the United States, Russia, China, France, Britain and Germany -- which offered the package of economic, technological and political incentives to Iran in June.” Laughable!

No amount of time, talks, and negotiations is going to deter Iran from perusing uranium enrichment. They are determined to do what ever they want, and if that is to have a nuclear weapon, they will have it. The UN has no backbone and the EU, Russia, and China have too much at stake—monetarily—to want to take action against Iran. Which in my opinion renders the UN and EU useless in the matter, and Russia and China not to be trusted if the military option is pursued by the US.

Bottom line, the UN and EU need to give up their political showmanship as it is pure folly! The rest of the world has to decide if they want Iran to have nuclear capabilities and to let them stay the course or stop them before it is too late. Stop the Game!
