Should We Appoint A Special Prosecutor, [Never Again,]

Ken Hughes
Now there are more questions about the actions of the special prosecutor Mr. Fitzgerald’s and the bureaucrats in Washington’s than the case he was perusing. Everyone including the Bush Whitehorse knew the truth. Why was this allowed to continue on for so long at such an expense to the taxpayers when everyone knew it was Mr. Armitage from the State Department who was the culprit who leaked Valerie Plame’s name, not the Whitehouse.

This is a fraud perpetrated on the American public and for what. Haven’t those people in Washington learned by now they can run but they can’t hide, the truth will eventually come out. Everyone in the government lied in this case and only one person is being held accountable, I Lewis Libby and all he’s being charged with is lying to a bunch liars. Why were the Democratic members of congress allowed to take these allegations against members of the Whitehouse staff that [SP] Mr. Fitzgerald knew perfectly well were untrue and run with them? This question needs an answer.

Who’ll charge Mr. Fitzgerald with a crime, who’ll make this right for Karl Rove, Dick Cheney and especially Scooter Libby? There’ll always be those who believe if there’s smoke there’s fire, when the facts are know it wasn’t really smoke after all it was dust kicked up by those wanting to run with the big_dogs .

Far too many special prosecutors in recent years have ended their investigations only to be able to prove they’d been lied to by the accused, the original charges become mute. Richard Nixon resigned because he lied Bill Clinton was impeached because he lied. Now we find it’s the special prosecutor who’s lying. What can be done about these men who are given very near dictatorial powers to ruin men’s lives? One way is to never again appoint a special prosecutor to keep them from committing prosecutorial murder.

September 2, 2006 The New York Times ran an article by David Johnston detailing the magnitude of errors committed by [SP] Fitzgerald in his zeal to bring down the Bush Administration, [my words not David’s.] This vendetta was ochristrated by Joe Wilson lyrics by Bob Novak sung by a choir of liberals including Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer and the entire Democratic House of Representatives. It’s obvious now everyone remotely connected with the investigation knew who outed Valerie Plame, if in fact she was outed. There’s no evidence she was a covert agent of the CIA.

We must ask ourselves as the people required to pay for such foolishness if there are no checks and balances to make sure this sort of thing doesn’t continue to happen. This and the previous special prosecutor investigation cost the taxpayers millions and produced nothing. I was taught in the first grade this was a travesty of justice, perhaps we didn’t express it that way but we knew even then when we were accused without evidence and punished it wasn’t the right thing for our teacher to do.

Now we come to the Media and their right to protect a source even when they know it’s destroying the reputations of innocent men and women. The constitution doesn’t give the media the right to play judge and jury. It says the government can’t tell the media what to think and write. It implies but doesn’t say the media is free to say what they like, true of false. No where in the constitution dose it say the Media is allowed to become complicit in a crime. The Media backed by liberal courts have assumed more power than the founding fathers intended them to have. The media has always supposedly been bias free and of course we all know this isn’t true, they show their liberal bias by innuendo if nothing else.

Unfortunately nothing will come of the special prosecutors miss handling of this investigation as nothing came of Ken Star’s investigation of Bill Clinton and his many supposed misdeeds. Special Prosecutors have become a joke the public’s no longer laughing at. It’s time they were sent to the archives of history never to be revived.

The 21st century needs 21st century thinking, in November vote for the challenger regardless of party, vote no for all incumbents. If we sent that message for a few elections perhaps congress will listen to the voters and not the polls. Washington seems to be tone-deaf let’s make them hear the music and songs from the heartlands, “We want accountability from Congress.”
