CardPricer.com Launching New Era?

Ted Golden doesn't sleep much these days. "Once every two or three days," he says. He's about to become the father of a bouncing baby web site aimed at revolutionizing how collections are built and kept.

He says he's never taken a computer class but the point man for CardPricer.com is banking on technology to make his new web site a hit.

Golden and his partners are launching the site and will show it off at table #648 at this year's National Sports Collectors Convention in Anaheim.

Cardpricer.com will offer what they call the "ultimate checklist", data on virtually all sets even close to mainstream, including card numbers, pictures and for subscribers, price data based on completed auctions. Golden says his group holds a data license with eBay, allowing the company to mine selling prices for a massive amount of auctions dating back at least a year. The aim is to provide collectors with easy access to data more current than what could be found in a printed price guide that is published monthly or annually or through eBay's completed auction section that offers searches going back 30 days. It offers the opportunity for collectors and dealers to make more educated assessments of the levels at which cards are actually selling. "This is a direct shot across the bow of the printed guides," Golden told Sports Collectors Daily.

Golden and his partners in the venture have been working on the idea for over a year. They will be in competition with vintagecardprices.com, another site offering illustrated checklists and auction data. CardPricer.com will offer the services of it's entire site on a two-week free trial basis. The portion of the site known as "my collection" where collectors can keep track of their collection on-line will remain free.

They also plan to offer auction houses and dealers the opportunity to manage their customer base in one centralized location with an off-shoot of the cardpricer concept.
