Overcome Your Public Speaking Anxiety

Sam Chapman
Mark Twain said it best, "There are two types of speakers: those that are nervous and those that are liars". If you are either, you need to know that you can overcome your public speaking anxiety. There are some very good natural anxiety treatments available.

Anxiety, panic attacks, stage fright – whatever you chose to call it, it can be absolutely nerve wracking for many people to speak in public. The fear that some people have of public speaking is worse in those who have symptoms of anxiety in other parts of their lives.

People who suffer from social anxiety disorder can have tremendous anxiety when speaking in public. These are people who are self-conscious and always feel like someone is watching them. They also feel like they are being judged and live with the fear of being embarrassed.

Is there hope for these people? Absolutely! Anxiety is a learned problem and it can be unlearned. Although some people may choose to go to a doctor, medications are not a long-term fix for public speaking anxiety. Long-term treatment should include relaxation exercises like deep breathing or meditation. It should include maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Getting enough sleep and exercise and maintaining good eating habits are helpful. The use of caffeine of alcohol should be avoided.

Reducing the amount of anxiety in your life can greatly improve the quality of your life. Learning to speak in public without fear can be a big part of that.
