What Are Major Causes Of Infertility In Women?

Understanding the major causes of infertility in women is very important. While there are many reasons that lead to this sad state of affairs, but one huge reason is Pelvic Inflammatory Disease that is also known as PID. This is caused by many bacteria´s that cause infections and that too in the reproductive organs, appendix and also the intestine, particularly the region that is in the pelvic area. But what is worst is that, the infection also affects the fallopian tubes and when this happens it is bad news indeed because the tubes are very important for pregnancy. This condition is known as salpingitis.

Chlamydia Trachomatis is the organism that causes as many as 75% of all cases of infections. This itself is an STD or a Sexually Transmitted Disease and it affects the fallopian tubes. The other 25% of all cases are caused by Gonorrhea. The saddest part is that, most of these cases of infections are not deemed that serious and are thus undiagnosed or remain overlooked.
Pelvic Tuberculosis may also cause PID. This form of Tuberculosis has spread all over the world in recent years, particularly in developing countries and this is a concern.
Often abortions are carried out in unhygienic conditions and using non sterile equipment and this also causes the Pelvic Inflammatory Disease.
When the appendix ruptures it can also cause PID and so can the herpes virus.
