THE LONG-TERM GOALS OF THE GOP ARE DEVASTATING FOR THE AVERAGE AMERICAN
...Victorian British Government, American Conservative's goals for America's future
When the nationīs founders were contemplating and constructing the Declaration of Independence and then later the US Constitution, the focus of the average liberal founding father, (and history shows, most of them were liberals), was to assume the approach that in some basic ways, we are "our brotherīs keeper". This was why, as opposed to the rules of the British and their "taxation without representation" and being ruled by an authoritarian British King, the founders were consistent in wanting a level playing field for all Americans, regardless of their wealth.
On the other side of the equation, the original wealthy American "Royalists" that later established Americaīs "Whig" party (the predecessors to the Republicans), they would have preferred a "two party" British type system. This is where the wealthy land-owners rule the lower classes and the poor. In fact, this was still the desire of those wealthy American Royalists, even after they won the War of the Revolution against Great Britain.
As a case in point, these were the same Americans that wanted to install the winning American General, George Washington, as the first life-time king of the American colonies. This was their preference instead of having an American constitution for all, with an elected president having a limited multi-year term. Fortunately for America, General Washington did not want to be a king. And today, the current conservatives havenīt changed much in which political system they would have preferred.
The point here is that whether they were called "Royalists, Whigs, the GOP, Republicans or Conservatives", they were and are all "right-wingers that have no desire for an America with a strong and healthy American "Middle Class".
Here are some truths for supporting that statement:
ITEM #1: Every time the Republicans have come to power, they have removed or stopped any rules or regulations that would have protected the average American. These were replaced by laws that supported big business and wealthy Americans. That can be easily proven by studying history from the eras before and including that of the "Robber Barons" of the 1800īs, to the years before the Great Depression of the 1930īs, to the decade of President Ronald Reagan and recently to the past Republican Congress and of the latest "Great Recession of President George W. Bush". (What other party could support a tax-cut for the wealthy while going into a bogus and expensive foreign war?)
ITEM #2: Even though "universal health care" was first mentioned by a Republican President, Theodore Roosevelt in 1906, the republicans have voted against that possibility for all Americans every time it has been presented. Republicans were able to turn away American health care from FDR, Truman, Kennedy, (Even Richard Nixon) and Bill Clinton. In the 4 years of Bush I, and 8 years of Bush II, and 12 years of a Republican Congress, nothing was ever done or even proposed about providing health care for all Americans.
ITEM #3: The Republicans in Congress voted down a minimum wage increase for over 10 years, even while the average working wage earners annual expenses increased $500 to $1,000 "each year" for a family of four.
ITEM #4: Historically, Congressional Republicans have consistently voted against: Social Security, FDIC, Bank Regulations, Unemployment Insurance, Medicare & Medicaid and now the 2009 Health Care Plan. But many years ago they did vote for and approve a "Health Care Exchange Insurance Plan" for themselves in Congress.
ITEM #5: When the Republican Congress passed the Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Bill, they did not pass it with a way to pay for it. So those payments to pay for the bill will now be left to our kids and grand kids. They also supported the wealthy drug companies in the bill by not allowing the government to negotiate the drug prices. The plan also has a "Donut Hole" where the insurance companies can stop paying for the American retireeīs drugs. This is of course unimportant to Americaīs rich.
ITEM #6: Republicans will always start wars without paying for them. They will pay for the American Military Industrial Complex's profits, but they wonīt vote to support the health of the average American family.
SUMMARY:
Have you ever asked the question: "If the conservatives really believe as they contend: in smaller government; less spending and lower taxes; why is it that starting with Ronald Reagan, no Republican administration has had a balanced national budget?" Since Reagan, the Republican administrations have spent money like a mob of drunken sailors. (I sincerely apologize if I have offended any drunken sailors.) And for years, the Republicans have screamed fowl about Democrats wanting to increasing governmentīs role with the average American. Yet under the last few Republican Presidents, they have increased government more than any Democratic president in decades. Now just why is that?
Well, there are a number of us that believe that it is all part of the conservatives master plan.
I personally believe that long ago the conservatives changed their long-term strategy for achieving their success.
The Republicans are planning on spending their way to success. The conservatives actually believe that they can increase the nationīs deficit to where the country becomes too much in debt. If they can also send the nucleus of Americaīs manufacturing jobs off-shore (which they have), in order to survive, the country will then need to cut back or eliminate the "Crown Jewels" of the past "Liberal Movements".
Those "Jewels" include Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Unemployment Insurance, government regulations of banks, and now the Democrat's Health Care Reform Plan. There are also those that believe that the GOP would also like nothing better than to get rid of all public schools from K-12 to all local and state run colleges and universities.
The difference between the Democrats and the Republicans is that for social programs such as Social Security and universal health care, the Democrats consistently present their ideas with plans for how they will be paid for. Since the Republicans donīt believe in national social programs, they never present a plan for one, and if they do, (such as Medicare Plan D) they donīt offer any plans for paying for it.
There is some proof of this approach when one considers how hard George W. Bush tried to privatize Social Security, (and after the 2008 market crash, we now know how bad that would have been). In addition, the big push for more "Charter Schools" and for "school vouchers" is just their beginning of the phasing out of public supported schools. One must remember, that when the free public schools are gone, only the wealthy will have enough money to afford a modern education, especially "higher" educations. It was our founders decision to support public schools. The reason being that a democratic nation must have a literate electorate in order to make informed decisions. Since the conservatives only want the wealthy to be the rulers, they could care less about having an informed citizenship.
Going back as far as the late 1800īs, history has shown that every time the Republicans have taken over both the White House and the Congress, they eventually have gotten the country into trouble with their so called "free market approach". Unfortunately, Americans have very short memories and they will eventually again start believing in the fantasy GOP ideas that America is supposed to have "Free Markets", not "Fair Markets".
As previously stated, the conservativeīs long-term approach is to spend the country to a critical point that as the manufacturing is moved out of the country, the nation will not be able to afford providing social services. Under those conditions, only the top 10-20% of the population will be able to sustain their fortunes and their families. In some ways, and with some families today, America is already there.
The majority of personal bankruptcies today are due to job losses, loss of insurance and catastrophic illness. Wealthy people donīt have those issues. The Democrats and President Obama was left with this mess, and hopefully they and he will be successful. Unfortunately, only time will tell.
So, this is what has become the GOPīs latest long-term strategy and it almost worked.
