Channel Islands 4x4, Chuys blaze a trail to help end hunger in Ventura County, Dec. 12
"Members of our Channel Islands 4x4 club are extremely committed to helping our community and dedicated to making an impact for those less fortunate," said club spokesperson John Saffelo of Simi Valley. "We invite all members of fellow 4x4 clubs throughout Southern California to participate and help FOOD Share and those that depend on its services."
Participants are encouraged to decorate their vehicle in a family-friendly holiday theme. The best dressed rig will be awarded a $50 gift certificate to Off Road Werkz in Ventura for 4x4 services or parts.
Saffelo said a $5 donation per vehicle is requested to benefit FOOD Share. In addition, visitors can donate money or canned goods in official FOOD Share collection barrels throughout the evening.
For every $1 FOOD Share receives, the nonprofit food bank can purchase over $7 of food and distribute items to 150 partner agencies and food pantries throughout Ventura County.
"We are very happy to host Channel Islands 4x4 club at Chuy's Simi Valley and anticipate a great turnout for a great cause – helping others so they won't go hungry this holiday season," said Julie Jenson, manager of Chuy's Simi Valley West. "For guests wishing to eat in the restaurant during the fundraiser, Chuy´s will donate a portion of the proceeds to FOOD Share."
In addition to a 4x4 show in the parking lot, families can bring the family to see Santa in his red sleigh Jeep and enjoy live music and Christmas carols performed by Nancy Lee from 7-9pm.
