New HCG Fat Loss Protocol: Accelerates Fat Metabolism and No Need for Simeon´s Low Calorie Diet
Chicago area Physician discusses current and next generation HCG protocols
I often have patients, who are not familiar with the HCG weight loss protocol ask me questions about how it works. HCG, otherwise known as Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin, is a glycoproteomic hormone that is normally produced by tryphoblastic cells of the Human placenta. However, patients often make the mistake of thinking that it is only present in pregnant women. This is in fact not the case, and it is actually present in both males and females, though the amount of HCG found in pregnant women is much larger. Though HCG is not currently approved by the FDA for the use in weight loss, it is considered a safe hormone as it is produced naturally. The hormone has however been approved by the FDA for other purposes, namely for assisting with hormonal problems and fertility difficulty.
So, how does such a hormone help one lose weight and specifically fat? In this article I will explain by first walking you through the issues with the common diet and then discuss what HCG does and how it affects fat storage. Finally, I will discuss what is being dubbed the next generation protocol.
Problems with the typical "diet"
Most diets focus on calorie intake and thus cause patients to believe that not eating can actually be better for them. While one may in fact lose weight by simply eating fewer calories and fat, because the body stores fat during times of deprivation, you will most likely lose your lean muscle before you lose any significant fat. Just as important, however, is that calorie restriction actually causes your metabolism to slow down because your body goes into conservation mode. The nutrients in your blood will drop and you will have massive hunger, causing even more strain on your will to "diet". In addition, the slower metabolism results in fatigue, so you feel sluggish and tired and most likely will not even affect your problem or "abnormal" fat deposits. So, when you stop the diet you will immediately gain all the weight back and perhaps more. Patients need to find a medical weight loss program that focus on inches and body fat percentage, not weight alone!
Types of Fat
The body stories 3 types of fat:
1. Structural fat
2. Normal reserves
3. Abnormal fat.
Structural fat fills in the gaps between organs and acts like a cushion to our skin, such as on the hands or soles of our feet. This is good fat. Normal reserves are also good and are used as a reserve tank of fuel for us, plus it is easy for the body to metabolize. Abnormal fat however is generally considered excessive accumulations of fixed deposits of fats throughout the body that are very difficult for our bodies to metabolize. When we exercise or restrict our calorie intake, our body relies on the normal reserves. It is very difficult to access the abnormal accumulations regardless of how hard one tries. This is where HGC comes in.
What does HCG do?
The HCG hormone makes abnormal fat all of a sudden become available to the body to metabolize. The body actually starts to live off abnormal fat. When used for weight loss purposes, HCG increases metabolism, resulting in a higher caloric expenditure. The hormone is also believed to directly stimulate the hypothalamus, causing it to release fat into the bloodstream. This fat is then eliminated by the body through the kidneys and intestines. As a result of the fat being released into the bloodstream, those participating in an HCG program report very little hunger pangs or symptoms that are normally associated with dieting
The History of HCG Weight Loss
The HCG weight loss program is not a new notion. The first report of the use of HCG for weight loss was published in 1954, by Dr. Albert T.W. Simeons. Dr. Simeons discovered that when taking HCG injections, patients were not only able to lose significant weight, but that weight maintenance after the treatment course was more effective compared to other simple diet programs. The Simeons protocol continues to be widely used by physicians and dieticians across the world.
The Next Generation of HCG weight loss
While the Simeon´s protocol has been used for years, the notion of calorie restriction has evolved. Patients can actually see similar results in metabolic change through using HCG, but WITHOUT having to limit their calorie intake. There are a number of weight loss programs that are emerging that now utilize a non-calorie restricted HCG protocol and the results have been phenomenal. But the results in weight loss are only a part of the excitement in these programs, patients are not only seeing tangible results in inches lost and body fat percentage but also in cholesterol and glucose levels. When combined with a wellness program that utilizes modern technologies that address the core issues surrounding metabolic disorders such as insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome, these programs are now often dubbed the next generation of HCG weight loss.
The emergence of these types of weight loss programs that focus on the underlying causes of obesity are great steps in the right direction. I have always felt that long term wellness should be the primary focal point for any weight loss program. Obesity is a rising issue and it negatively affects health outcomes in almost every way imaginable. Patients have too many options being thrown at them about ways to lose weight, and frankly most are just simply not healthy. Patients need to speak with a physician, to learn about all their options.
