Chicago Resident Sentenced for Attempting to Provide Prohibited Items to Inmate
On February 8, 2009, Hamlin attempted to provide bottles of alcohol and jars of protein powder to Earnest Neal, an inmate of the Federal Prison Camp, Oxford, Wisconsin. The inmate, Earnest Neal, was sentenced on October 29, 2009, to two months in prison consecutive to the term of imprisonment he was serving at the time of the offense.
The charge against Mesha Hamlin was the result of an investigation conducted by Federal Bureau of Prisons and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert A. Anderson.
