A Wedding Gift Guide Will Help Navigate Each Wedding Event

If you have recently had a close friend, coworker or family member become engaged, then you may have begun thinking about possible gifts. However, with all the different events couples hold leading up to the big day it can be hard to know what is expected and when. By using a wedding gift guide you should be able to navigate through each event and ensure you buy the happy couple the perfect gift.

It is not uncommon for engaged couples these days to hold several events between the proposal and the big day, and depending on your relationship to the bride or groom you may be invited to all of them. If you don´t know what gifts are expected, this can quickly add up! A handy guide will give you a better understanding of the correct etiquette to save you some face as well as money.

Most couples hold a party to celebrate their recent engagement, which may take place with short notice if the proposal was unexpected. As a result guests are not expected to gift at these events, and any guide will tell you that they are not expected and you should feel no pressure to buy something.

However, if you are particularly close to the couple, or just wish to show them your support, gifts can be given. These gifts should not be excessive and should be moderate in price, perhaps a personal item to show them how much you care. It may be as simple as a bottle of wine to get the party going.

You should also consult a wedding gift guide if you are invited to a bridal or wedding shower. These events are so called as the guests are showering the bride or couple with gifts, so it is best not to go empty handed. If you have never been to this kind of event, you may be surprised that gift giving is the main event after eating or playing a few games, so your choice of gift can be important.

Most shower invitations will include a registry online or at a department store which can be used for the shower and the wedding day itself. This gift should not be as expensive as your wedding gift and experts recommend not spending less than $25.

You should consult a guide for clever ideas including tying your gift in with the shower theme if it has one, or perhaps linking it to the wedding gift you are planning. For example you could buy margarita glasses to go with a tropical shower theme, or coffee cup mugs to go with an espresso maker you are giving for the wedding.

The big day itself is when you may find yourself in most need of a guide, but with gift registries most of the pain can be taking out of choosing a gift. These registries can make sure that gifts are not repeated and can take care of delivery to the couples´ new home for their convenience. By checking a couples´ registry you can be sure that they have everything they want to start a new life together.

If a couple does not have a registry, then gift cards to suitable stores are also an acceptable solution. You may decide that you want to buy them something more personal, but this is only recommended if you know them well.

The wedding gift should be your main present, and you should thinking about spending upwards of $50. Even if you do not attend the wedding itself you should still gift, and these can be sent to the couples home or given to them within three months of their marriage.

Surviving wedding season can be difficult and expensive, but with a wedding gift guide you should be able to relax and concentrate on having fun. The happy couple will be pleased with what they receive and you wont feel like you´ve paid a fortune.
