Taking Good Close Up Digital Photos
As your digital camera will be very close to your subject, keep in mind that there can be quality challenges. For example, if you are trying to get a close-up of a flower, it will easier to get a good photo if there is no wind. Any jittering as you hold the camera can also cause a blur. The best solution for this is to mount the camera on a tripod. Another good thing to use is the camera´s self timer. This way you don´t have to worry so much about shaking hands.
The depth of field (focal length) will also be lessened when you are taking close-ups. So you need to be careful about focusing. In taking a close-up digital photo of a flower there may be a lot of leaves around it. Make sure your digital camera is pointing at the right object so that your target will be in focus even if background clutter will be blurred.
Avoid using the build-in flash on your digital camera when taking close-ups. A better way to make sure the subject has good light is to get good sun orientation. If the object is inside, consider getting a slave flash. This is a flash that fires when the shutter is released, but the light doesn´t´ come directly from the camera.
Experiment. Take multiple digital photos of the same subject and see what works best. Good luck and have fun!
