Bernina Sewing Machine Reviews - Activa 220, 830, 730E

Robin OBrien
Have you ever heard about Bernina sewing machines? I hadn't until my sister bought one about a year ago, and thanks to her I now know more about the Bernina 830 than you might have thought was humanly possible. Some of the stuff she had to say confused me, so I spent some time reading sewing machine reviews, and found out from them that the Bernina 830 is one of the most sophisticated sewing machines available today.

And, the Bernina 830 isn't their only best-selling model, either. They also have several others that are highly acclaimed. Let me tell you a little of what I have picked up, and you can decide for yourself whether Bernina makes the best computerized sewing machine available today.

Activa 220 - A leader in positive sewing machine reviews

The Activa 220 is something like the little sister of a Bernina 830, but don't think any less of it. Excellent stitch speeds as high as 1000 spm are possible, and the ability to program your own shortcut procedures can save you a lot of time with tasks that must be accomplished repeatedly. Set them up as one of four custom shortcuts, and those complicated and tedious processes are suddenly as easy as the touch of a button.

Bernina 830 Sewing Machine

The 830, simply put, is the machine with all the bells and whistles. It's great for frills and lace, too, with over a hundred stitch patterns built-in, and the ability to create your own. This is the machine my sister is so happy with. And I have to admit, she has made some embroidery designs that are really amazing. She always had a lot of sewing talent, but her Bernina 830 really brought out the best I've seen her do.

Bernina Computerized 730E Sewing Machine

One thing that is standard on any Bernina sewing machine is the Bernina Stitch Regulator (BSR), which regulates the needle speed to make certain that you get a perfect stitch every time, no matter how fast or slow the material is moving. The 730E always has a special light, called a CFL sewing light, which illuminates the work area from three directions, providing crisp, clear, shadowless vision in the most exacting circumstances. For home creations, the Bernina 730E is perfect, and can even be applied to light industrial applications.

Now, you can soak a lot more information, especially about the Bernina 830, if you talk to my sister. She's gotten so involved in sewing that it's all she ever seems to do anymore. She says it is all because her 830 makes it so easy and fun, that she just can't resist. I do admit though, I kind of like all the great things she has made for me in the past year!
