Tutoring 101
When one such entrepreneur was asked about the hardest decision he ever had to make, he answered that he didn´t know what a hard decision was. An entrepreneur will approach decision-making with the idea that there´s a strong likelihood that he/she will be wrong. This doesn´t dissuade them – to the contrary they just do the best they can and worry about handling obstacles as they arise.
Here's a few entrepreneurs:

Wise Owl Tutoring in Winter Park, FL, was founded in 2002 with the premise that getting tutoring should be quick and easy. We do not require upfront diagnostic testing, contracts, minimum number of hours, etc. We specialize in getting right to what the student needs help with, and we keep our fees reasonable. We stress the understanding of concepts over memorization.
We offer subject tutoring primarily in the areas of math, science, and language from middle school through college. We also assist students who are preparing for standardized tests, such as SAT, ACT, FCAT, GED, GRE, ASVAB, etc. For SAT prep, we also offer small classes.

This is my third year teaching and my fourth year tutoring. I started tutoring before I started teaching in order to put me through school. Before I realized that I wanted to be a teacher I started working at an elementary school. It was there I realized that I wanted to be a teacher. Originally I thought I wanted to be an Elementary teacher so I went to school for my multiple subject credential. Just for job security I also got my Math credential. I received an interview and job right away for a math position and took it. I am so glad that I took that job or else I never would have realized how much I love teaching high school. I am also currently the assistant Surf coach at our school. I am also currently getting my masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Dominguez Hills. For my masters program I have to conduct research in my classes. The topic I am researching is how using real world examples to teach graphing impacts students graphing skills.
I love tutoring. It is relaxing for me to sit with just one student, instead of 35, and focus in on their mistakes or misconceptions. It makes me feel good to give one student the one-on-one attention they need. I wish I could do it for all my students. I also love to see how their grades start to go up once they get a tutor. It is always a rewarding feeling.

ASEF Tutoring, Inc. is the only 501(c)(3) non-profit tutoring company in the Houston area. We are family owned and dedicated to serving underprivileged children with educational needs. After years of witnessing the benefit to children who could afford tutoring, we recently obtained non-profit status in order to reach ALL children. Our tutors are degreed and currently hold a teacher's certificate from the state of Texas. The majority are currently employed with a public school system within the local communities. ASEF Tutoring, Inc. is currently located on the northwest side of Houston in the Cypress/Tomball area. Our vision is to open other locations and to provide transportation from the public schools to our facility. Our second location would be in the inner city of Houston because it is our belief that every child deserves an opportunity for success regardless of financial status. By creating a non-profit company, it is our vision to collaborate with corporations, individuals and the public school systems to help as many children as possible by providing an opportunity otherwise not afforded to them.

Since 1983 Secondary Mathematics Tutoring (SMT) under the direction of Sonya Sokolow, Ph.D., has provided support of mathematics achievement in arithmetic through calculus for students of all ages, children to adults. Generally, tutoring is done in an office with minimal distractions and on a one-to-one basis at prescheduled appointments evenly spaced throughout the week. Scheduling is as flexible as possible so that the support will be there for the student when it is needed and so that the tutor can monitor the student's progress in a timely manner. As needed, the tutor communicates with the student's family, teacher, and/or counselor. The effectiveness of the tutoring effort is constantly being evaluated by comparing the student's initial goal to present achievement.
