Joins House Republicans to read Pelosi´s 1,990-page bill

WASHINGTON—Congressman Wally Herger (R-CA) joined House Republicans in the Republican Reading Room to read H.R. 3962, the latest version of Speaker Pelosi´s government takeover of health care. The bill, which totals nearly 2,000 pages, creates even more new government bureaucracies than the health care bill proposed this summer. House Democrats unveiled the bill last Thursday, and a vote is scheduled for later this week.

"You just have to look at the size of the Pelosi plan for government-run health care to see that it´s 2,000 pages of bigger government and increased bureaucracies. This legislation will create 111 new offices, bureaus, commissions, programs, and bureaucracies. Forty-three entitlement programs will be created, expanded, or extended. Across the world nations have tried and failed with government takeovers of health care. Their citizens have experienced rationing, reduced quality of care, and government bureaucrats who take health care decisions out of the hands of doctors and patients. That´s exactly what the Pelosi plan will do – it will put a roadblock between patients and their doctors. Medical decisions won´t be based on what is best for your personal health care needs, but instead they will be handed down from Washington without consideration of individual circumstances. We need less bureaucracy, not more. I will continue to push for a health care solution that keeps the federal government out of your doctor´s office."
