Michael McIntyre - How Did He Become So Successful?
Well I think one of the main reasons is because he talks about things that lots of people can relate to. His humour is fairly uncomplicated stuff. He simply offers his own unique take on life in modern-day Britain. The actual content of his act is similar in many respects to a lot of other comics who specialise in observational comedy.
However the major appeal of Michael McIntyre is that he has an incredible energy about him and has amazing enthusiasm that is almost certain to win you over right from the beginning. Indeed I can remember taking a liking to him as soon as I saw him make his first TV appearance, and I know many of my friends like him as well.
He's one of those comedians that the whole family can warm to because there is little or no swearing or bad language in his act. He doesn't need to resort to this. His material is more than strong enough without it, particularly because his delivery of the gags makes them even funnier.
Indeed some people on the comedy circuit have a problem with him because they view him as being a fairly safe, mainstream comedian. However I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing, particularly at a time when a lot of people have some very serious financial problems to deal with. The point is that he's exceptionally funny and makes an awful lot of people laugh.
You only have to look how popular his stand-up DVD was last Christmas and see how quickly tickets sold out for his latest tour to see how popular he is. Whether he will still be making the nation laugh in 5 or 10 years time remains to be seen, but at the moment he's quickly overtaken Peter Kay as Britain's favourite comedian, and is likely to stay there as long as he continues to get regular TV work.
