CDP "Mop Squad" Goes to Republican Party's Headquarters.

John Burton, Chair of the California Democratic Party, released a video today showing Democrats delivering mops and petitions to the California Republican Party´s Headquarters with a request to work with them in a "bipartisan way." The video begins with President Barack Obama giving a speech in which he states Nancy Pelosi and he are working hard, but cautiously, to clean up Washington. "We don´t want somebody sitting back saying, 'You´re not holding the mop the right way,'" Obama says. "Why don´t you grab a mop ... Why don´t you help clean up?"

The video fades to black with the note: "We took President Obama´s message to heart."

Bob Mulholland, a Senior Advisor to the California Democratic Party, is next seen in the video with young Democrats speaking with GOP leaders in a hallway outside of the Republican Party´s cluttered office. "You probably know that President Obama said that the Republicans under Bush left the country a mess and that we ought to give them mops," Mulholland says. "All around the country today we are delivering mops to Republicans to say help clean up this mess." Mulholland then hands over a stack of petitions and continues, "Over 1,100 people have signed up over night the petition saying please join the Democrats and Obama to clean up this mess that you guys left and work in a bipartisan way."

The video ends with a message to viewers to get involved at cadem.org and Mulholland asking, "Who do we give these mops to?" The video can be seen here.
