Jerrick KM Foo
Bacteria and molds are just two of the mattress horrors we don´t want to be subjected with. However, if you are using a mattress that is not resistant to these things, you are definitely in danger of exposing yourself to the threats posed by these microorganisms.

Rather than replace a perfectly comfortable memory foam mattress pad with something new, clean it instead and show these microorganism who is the boss.

Tip 1: Spray on Disinfecting Alcohol

It would not hurt to spray in some disinfecting alcohol. It works well with any type of mattress so it should work well with your memory foam. Just pour some in a spray bottle and spray both sides of the mattress. Let it sit there for a few minutes to dry up completely.

Tip 2: Spray on Vinegar Solution

The best remedy for molds is vinegar solution. It can be used not just on mattresses but also household appliances, tiles, walls, what-have-you. It dissolves molds and prevents them from coming back.

You can mix about half a cup of vinegar with two cups of water and put it in an empty spray bottle. Spray it on the area affected and leave it on for 30 minutes. After that, spray it again with water and vacuum it or air dry it.

Tip 3: Apply Baking Soda

A good tried and tested trick is baking soda. Just sprinkle it on top of your mattress and rub it for a little bit. Wait for it to dissolve quickly in the mattress. After a few minutes, vacuum it to get rid of the granules. This should take care of the mold and bacteria problem.

Tip 4: Spray Lemon Juice

Lemon juice also has natural disinfectant qualities. Mix lemon juice with water and then spray it on the mattress. Leave it there to dry for about an hour and then spray it again with water. You can air dry the mattress or use your electric fan.

Tip 5: Use Detergent with Antibacterial Properties

There are actually mild detergents today with antibacterial properties. Dissolve it in water and use the soap suds to clean the mattress. Use sponge to scrub the mattress surface and then spray clean water to wash off the detergent residues.

These are actually very common methods but they are the ones that really work. Most people trust the use of these cleaning ingredients so you should try using them too. Just stay away from harsh cleaning ingredients such as bleach. This might actually cause the foam to sag or cause a slight discoloration in the mattress.
