CCW Fan Appreciation Night
The action kicked off when CCW Owner Marcus Schneider welcomed the fans and began to conduct the fans' drawing. However, after setting two matches, the festivities were interrupted as Apollo, joined by The Prophet and Jessie Bell, made his way to ringside. As he shouted over the boos from the crowd, Apollo made the case that his people, as well as The Prophet's, "have been oppressed for long enough," and challenging The Fat 'N The Furious to a return match. He wouldn't have long to wait, as the FNF answered the challenge almost immediately, setting up the evening's main event, for which Apollo warned the crowd and the FNF that he had an "insurance policy." After both teams returned to their respective locker rooms, Schneider conducted the remainder of the drawing, and the fans were eager to get "Fan Appreciation Night" underway.
The opening contest featured the "Illustrous" K-Lo gong up against perpetual CCW fan favorite "The Black Redneck" Kliff Hanger. While Kliff Hanger was tossing sunglasses to several of the younger fans in attendance, K-Lo took the opportunity to intercept a pair and stomp them on the canvas, kickstarting the match as Kliff Hanger dominated in the early goings. After chasing K-Lo out and back into the ring a couple times, K-Lo took the low road to gain the advantage, using a chain he'd smuggled into the ring to batter and wear down Kliff Hanger, gaining several near-falls as the match reached the halfway point. Working with the momentum, K-Lo cranked up the offense, using submission moves to further soften up the Black Redneck. After missing a high-risk move from the corner, K-Lo found himself in the unenviable position of witnessing the second wind of Kliff Hanger, who pinned K-Lo for the victory after hitting his "Shining Wizard." The fast-paced match kept the fans' mind off the muggy August conditions and served as a solid opener for the night's card.
Elmore Fudd (w/ Mrs. Fudd) vs. Jebidiah Blackhawk: Blackhawk, a clear CCW favorite, had the Arena jumping as he made his return to Classic Championship Wrestling in a match against the always-dangerous Fudd. The match started out with blackhawk trying to find a way around Fudd's playbook, which usually resides south of the rulebook. however, experience and a series of fine technical moves soon played to Blackhawk's favor. In the blink of an eye, however, Fudd regained his advantage due to a low blow, and the timely interference of Mrs. Fudd. Now on the attack, Fudd began relying on brawling tactics and punishing moves to try and put Blackhawk away. A failed highspot nearly spelled doom for Fudd, but some well-timed distraction of the referee opened the door for Fudd to steal the win and spoil the CCW homecoming of Jebidiah Blackhawk. Something tells me that this isn't quite over between these two just yet.
CCW Commissioner Chris Alexander vs. Dynamite Derrick: Dynamite Derrick continues to anger fans and CCW officials alike since turning his back on tag team partner "Smooth" Johnny Spade earlier this month. In a much-anticipated return match from August 4, Derrick once again found himself across the ring from CCW's own Commissioner, Chris Alexander. Senior Official Darrell Mays had his job cut out for him from the beginning simply trying to maintain some sense of order before the bell, as the animosity between Alexander and Derrick was on full display. After being one-upped on several exchanges, resulting in him hitting the floor outside the ring, Derrick took control with a big swinging neckbreaker, piling on power move after power move in an attempt to put away his newest nemesis. A missed top-rope elbow by Derrick, however, would provide enough spark for a rousing comeback by Alexander, who was clearly feeding off the fans, anxious to see Dyanmite Derrick get taken down a notch. Just as it seemed Alexander had things going his way, Derrick landed the Supa Playa Kick and gained the three-count. This was not the end, though, as Derrick continued the assault on the Commissioner, hitting another Supa Playa Kick before "Smooth" Johnny Spade hit the ring, chair in hand, to make the save.
When these two former tag team partners will meet again is anyone's guess. Although mention was made of Dynamite Derrick's recent remarks on the internet, on both his website and in CCW's "The Rage Report," that HE'S "the big dog that runs CCW," and of his prediction for victory in the future CCW Heavyweight title tournament, Derrick has been trying every trick in the book to make Spade play the waiting game on a rematch. Expect CCW management to address this controversy in the upcoming weeks.
"Smooth" Johnny Spade vs. Bad Medicine #13 (with Tim the Baker): Given the events that had just transpired, the crowd was hungering for more as Spade squared off with Bad Medicine #13, the latest in a line of masked proteges of Tim the Baker. Johnny Spade, who is without a doubt CCW's most popular star at present, hit the ring a second time, with the capacity crowd on their feet for him. This weighed heavily against Bad Medicine #13, making his CCW debut, who seemed unsure about tying up with Spade, even after Spade ridiculed him on the mike. With the ever-present Tim the Baker running interference, Bad Medicine #13 took an early advantage, trying to overpower Spade and brawl him down. After Spade launched a comeback, gaining more of an edge with each move, the crowd was incensed as Dynamite Derrick hit the ring during a moment of distraction for referee Paul Calhoun, delivering the Supa Playa kick to Spade, and throwing Bad Medicine #13 on top for the win. Bad Medicine's bid for a huge upset win in his CCW debut missed by half a beat, though, as Spade still had a little gas in the tank. Much to the disgust of both Dynamite Derrick and Tim the Baker, their efforts would be all for not as Spade would connect with a swanton and pick up the three.
After the match, Spade and Derrick squared off on the microphone, with Spade repeatedly challenging Derrick to get in the ring and face him. Derrick, for reasons still currently unknown, has refused to specifically answer the challenge. the controversy continued over a posting from Dynamite Derrick's website, downgrading Spade and his abilities. The actions of these two men, as well as the fan's anticipation, guarantees a blockbuster when their paths finally cross again in the ring.
Main Event: The Fat 'N The Furious vs. Apollo & The Prophet (w/Jessie Bell): The main event of "Fan Appreciation Night" started off, appropriately enough, furiously, as Apollo and The Prophet attacked the FNF from behind, trying to maintain control early. The FNF was not interested, however, and shortly after the attack began, Apollo and Prophet both found themselves outside on the arena floor. The match kept a breakneck pace throughout, with Apollo and the Prophet finally settling down and taking the lead after being overpowered early on by the much larger and more experienced team. Although only teaming for the second time in CCW, Apollo and the Prophet showed a tag team chemistry that spoke well to both men's abilities, as they succeeded in cutting the ring in half, wearing down Jack Black with a mix of quick tags, power moves, and double teaming. Add the presence of the lovely, if devious, Jessie Bell at ringside, and things were definitely not looking good for the Fast and the Furious.
As the match wore on, the damage was piling up on Jack Black, and partner Vito Andretti was powerless to help on the ring apron. The opponents took advantage of every spare second they could get, double-teaming Black and picking up the ocassional cheap shot by Jessie Bell. Just when it seemed Apollo and the Prophet were going to ruin the main event for the fans by pulling out a hard-fought win, Black broke away and made the hot tag. Andretti exploded on both men, showering them with right hands, clothelines, and impact moves, as the FNF took firm control of the match. As Andretti was going for the win, the fans were stunned as JB Thunder hit the ring, weapons in tow, and broke up the pin. The sudden return of Apollo's partner in crime with the HNIC spelled trouble for the now out-numbered FNF, as things quickly degenerated, leaving CCW Senior Official Darrell Mays no other choice but to declare a no-contest.
The assault continued, as the HNIC, along with Prophet and Bell, mugged Black and Andretti with double team moves and weapon shots, even going so far as to bring a couple of nooses along for emphasis. Commissioner Chris Alexander made his way to ringside to help try and restore order, but found quickly that was to be an uphill battle. Fed up, he called to the back, and Kliff Hanger and Johnny Spade hit the ring with a chair and 2X4 to make the save. One can only imagine where this one is heading to, with the reunion of HNIC in CCW, but rest assured that somewhere in that mix, the Fat and the Furious will be on the hunt for payback.
