Things That Can Keep A Girl Up At Night

We have all been here at some point. You have had an exhausting day and as hard as one tries to stay awake, he/she finds he cannot fight off sleep any longer.
So he/she gets comfortable under the covers for what he/she thinks will be a quick trip into the arms of Morpheus. Not so fast. Instead, one finds him/herself tossing and turning, slapping the pillow a few times, flipping through the television channels or some even find themselves thinking about the state of the world and so on. Below are a few of the things this writer has thought of every now and again.
After watching shows such as Joe Millionaire, The Bachelor, The Bachelorette and observing how challenging it can be for some one to find a suitable marriage partner even on some of those online dating websites, this writer began to ponder a few things of her own.
If, for example, some Americans cannot find a partner who is willing to commit to a relationship or marriage, what makes a foreign person think he/she can come to the US in the hope of finding such a person? Especially if some Americans won’t commit to one of his/her own fellow citizens? Seems like a rather steep hill to climb, doesn’t it?
If some one is stuck in a traffic jam, why does the person in the car next to yours suddenly feel the need to turn up the sound on his/her car stereo system? Do they think you want to hear what they are listening to?
What would life have been like on this planet if there were no gravity. Surely we would have all learned to adapt, or would some genius come along and show us how a little gravity can keep us and our possessions all firmly grounded, as opposed to being in a constant state of floating around in space.
Although we all feel the effects of time with each passing birthday, time itself is not a physical entity we can see, touch or feel.
We cannot trap it in a jar for later use. Why is it then that some people say things like, they don’t have time. The truth of the matter is, no one has time, but we can all set aside a scheduled event or two to spend with some one who will appreciate the time you have taken from your busy life to be with him/her.
Being a woman has never been easy. We adjust and learn to live with a few things as we grow. Things such as being heckled, sexually harassed, stared at or ogled, or being tolerant of certain aches and pains, just to name a few.
Some women make being a woman seem easy though. Especially the ones who look like they just stepped out from the pages of a beauty magazine.
Will the world find peace if all the terrorist forces in it were to be caught, arrested and locked away for good. Or will new generations of them keep emerging to keep everyone in a permanent state of alert and some degree of paranoia?
With each new potential terrorist threat that comes along, it seems we are just finding new ways for the world of air travel to become less free.
As air travel becomes more and more safe and at times frustrating with all the profiling that is taking place, one more question is asked, is the terrorist in some small way winning because the freedom of air travel is not what it used to be and might never again be what it used to be prior to September 11th 2001?
The operative word here is freedom; something America and the western world has been fighting so hard to keep over the years.
