What is essential in dealing with child behavior is to set clear, reasonable, and developmentally appropriate rules; explain the consequences that the child can expect when the problem behavior occurs; develop consequences that are appropriate to the childīs level of development and sufficient to be considered negative without being unduly harsh; and praise the child when he behaves appropriately.
