What Would You Do Mr. Congressman?

Ken Hughes
I wish those liberal congresspersons would stop telling the public what the President’s doing wrong and tell us how to do it the right way. I haven’t heard one positive suggestion coming from a congressperson yet. Their campaign slogan for the coming election will likely be, “look at my record,” [Not that record look at the one I’ve posted on my web site.]

It seems in the minds of many liberals President Bush can’t chew gum and get it right. Liberals in this country are out to prove George Bush is the worst President this country has ever had and he’s the dumbest person God ever put on this earth.

Some Congresspersons are demanding we pull the troops out of Iraq while other say, no, redeploy them to neighboring countries; those countries being Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordon, and Turkey: those are the friendly neighbors. The not-so-friendly neighbors are Syria and Iran. This is, of course, a ridiculous idea; pulling out of Iraq would be a signal to the terrorists around the world that they have free reign to do at will what they choose.

If America isn’t willing to fight terrorism in Iraq what make the terrorists think they would fight any harder in their own country. What makes the American public think these cut-and-run advocates wouldn’t surrender when the terrorist show up at their door. Americans have traditionally taken the fight to the barbarians. This is why America has never been invaded by a foreign army since the war of 1812. There’s a message there somewhere.

It seems at this point there are only a few countries with the testosterone to stand up to international terror. Not all of the citizens of those countries have what it takes to defend their nation. When I read an article suggesting that the Israelis are the terrorists and Americans are complicit, I wonder how supposedly intelligent people can be so ill-informed. Beyond their anti-Semitism and hatred for President Bush there’s no logical conclusion to be made. Fortunately, for the country, stupidity isn’t contagious; hereditary, perhaps, but not contagious.

What’s most depressing is that so many of our political candidates use these ranting of the bloggers and the media as ammunition to fuel their political ambitions; the public interest be dammed.

There was a time when there were political parties that could discuss and negotiate their differences. Today, it’s all partisan politics. Today there’s very little difference between the parties; both parties are lead by extremists and the average congressperson has little chance of being heard. We hear what’s wrong on every issue facing our government and no suggestions on how to make it right. When the media can’t find negative news they make it up. Bloggers and novas web site contributors with an agenda make it up.

One of two things is going to happen in the not-so-distant future. The world will turn a deaf ear and all will go up in flame or intelligent people will convince the world this is not the time for timidity; it’s a time for action. It’s a time to take off the gloves of political correctness and acquiescence to the statuesque and stand up for liberty and survival.

As I recall until about 25 years ago this country had a creed, “Don’t Tread On Me.” Now it just as well might be “I’m Your Friendly Doormat; Come On In.”

Come on America don't be wimps get some b**l’s and act like men for a change.
