The Elevation of Humanity

John L. Waters
Humanity will rise higher as the science of humanity rises to become the science of art and the art of humanity rises to become the art of science.

Each work of art is a creation, a construct, as is a wasp nest, a bee hive, and a bird's nest. A person's words are like apparel, and can be taken off leaving the person speechless, naked, and vulnerable.

In this vulnerability the inspired person employs nonverbal art. This inspiration produces images that are more complex than talk can describe. Not even fine writing can do these images justice. At the peak is the lover's creation made by two speechless artists. Yet frequently speechless children are often termed psychotic or insane.

Today's psychiatric science is a hollow shell with no powder in it. Modern science is not yet filled with enough high explosive to penetrate the core of human nature and give us a testable theory on the divine psychic potency of speechless naked oracular humanity. Words are blinding smoke. The firelight in Michelangelo made him do what for others was impossible. To witness one of Michelangelo's grand feats, observe the ceiling of the Sistine chapel. Michelangelo was a miracle worker, a genius.

A study of miracle workers is what humanity needs right now because in an unprecedented mad frenzy of thoughtlessness and accelerating haste humanity is destroying both itself and the provident world. Only miracle workers will set humanity on the survival track. Humble scientists need to study the miracle workers and the miracle workers need to humble themselves and commune with the humble scientists. The communion of humble persons is quiet without talk, and the common ground is art- birds building nests, bees building honeycombs, people building friendships and artists inspired to do what seems impossible. Science needs to move its academic collective butt and become devoted to investigating the forbidden frontier.

In many a child a genius flickers and smokes, and since edu-science and psycho-psychiatry have steered away from the psyche and the psychic-intuitive, few if any teachers, counselors, or doctors can identify the child-genius. The art (that includes manner, ways, and demeanor) of this wonder-child is bizarre, that is unfamiliar, uncommon, and so eccentric that it seems wrong to the stiff and stern conventional peers and teachers. The genius does seemingly impossible things. But nearly all modern schools are designed and funded to celebrate, cultivate, and incarcerate normalized and oppressed children who concentrated on studying and practicing what is considered normal and socially acceptable. The mental and physical art, skill, and devotion of geniuses is not cultivated in schools, and educated human adults root in the mire of popular confusion and popular conflicts. The genius remains elevated even as orthodox science ignores the full human potential.

Folks today board a plane or enter a towering building only to be incinerated due to some error in the structure or some error in the brains of one or more terrorists. Come and witness our modern age of error, terror, and fear. The child who grows up trusting in popular education and popular technology becomes a typical adult who can see now way out of the present human dilemma. But there is a way out. The way is for professional educators, counselors, and professional scientists to focus on the full human potential, pull their heads up out of the sand, and open their eyes and their minds wide enough to see everything there is to see.

I grew up in Santa Barbara, California and was assessed as "probably brain damaged" in ninth grade. After receiving my BA from UC Santa Barbara in 1962 I taught Science in a private elementary school for two years and high school Mathematics for eighteen months. After June of 1968 I worked on treating myself. My recovery or partial recovery came after 1980 as I created a better health program and I started reading more, visiting more places, and meeting more persons. I need a collaborator.
