President George W. Bush's War On Terror A Colossal Failure

Robert Paul Reyes
Bin Laden and al-Zawahiri have released more videos than Madonna and Britney Spears; Al Qaeda has more franchises than McDonalds; proctologists stationed at every boarding gate; the Taliban resurgent in Afghanistan, and don't even mention Iraq.

Before we invaded Iraq, Saddam was the only terrorist in his country; now Iraq is "Terror Central" -- a breeding and training ground for jihadists.

Bush's declaration that Saddam's capture was a victory against terrorism is like the FBI boasting that the arrest of a guy selling pirated copied of DVD's from his garage is a victory against organized crime.

President George W. Bush's war on terror has been a colossal failure; five years after 9/11 America is not a safer place. We can't board a plan with any liquids and soon we won't be able to board a plane with any clothes.

But Republicans are already using the terrorism card in this year's election. They are attempting to scare the American public into believing that Democrats are soft on terrorism.

Republicans are already doing this in their post-Connecticut primary spin, arguing that the Democrats rejected pro-war Lieberman and nominated a Cindy Sheehan clone who will cower before terrorists.

After all these years Osama should be lifting weights and watching cable TV in an American prison and not hiding in a cave in Afghanistan. Democrats shouldn't be afraid of running on the issue of terrorism; certainly they can't do a worse job than the Bush administration.

If you are considering voting Republican this November, ask yourself: Do you feel safer than you did five years ago?
