Dangerous Times
We hear much about the possibility of civil war in Iraq. It is happening already: Sunnis against Shiites. The only issues these two factions agree on are their common hatred for the United States and Israel.
We are no longer dealing with disorganized terrorist groups but with well trained, well armed militias whose fighters are superbly brain-washed and motivated. Some Islamic Clerics have done, and are continuing to do, outstanding jobs indoctrinating their flocks to hate all infidels, non-believers in Mohamed. They cause them to fear life more than death encouraging them to martyr themselves for the good of Islam.
The Islamic world will never accept Democracy as we know it. It contradicts the tenets of their religion. Islam and its laws have existed for centuries. What kind of arrogance makes us believe that we can persuade their followers to our way of thinking? Who commissioned us to convert the world to democracy?
We have tried previously to rid several countries of Communism. We didn’t have to send troops to Korea and Vietnam. As an untenable form of government, Communism implodes because it is against human nature. Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels were mistaken.
But we have not learned from our mistakes. We took on a new challenge and stormed into Iraq. Attempting to democratize the Middle-East is like asking Muslims to convert. It does not work.
Democracy believes in an open society. This is our strength, a strength that is also our Achilles’ heel. Democratic countries are wide open to infiltrators who mean us harm. There are legions of Islamic cells in the free world. They are hidden mostly among Muslim citizens of good will and could be described as a fifth column of people who hate us.
Leaders of Radical Islam are not only reaching into all countries of the free world but Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and large parts of Africa as well are prime targets for zealots.
The free world is kept hostage by our insatiable thirst for oil, the lifeblood of our industries. Without it, we are weakened to the point of being defenseless.
The Middle-East is aflame. Conflict in that region will continue far into the future. The time has come for us to regroup and make sure that our own house does not catch fire.
