El Circulo Zamboangueño marks 53 years of Fiesta Pilar in Cagayan de Oro
Over a hundred Zamboangueños and their families are expected to join the festivities hosted by Mr. Jose Nebrao, chairman emeritus of the Circulo.
Mr. Nebrao, perennial chair of the half century old association of families who originated from Zamboanga City, formerly known as "The City of Flowers" but recently restyled as "Asia's Latin City", said the Circulo has also been conducting the traditional nine-day novena for Nuestra Señora Virgen del Pilar de Zaragoza, the city's patron saint.
The nine-day novena was hosted by the following families: Edwin & Judith Amik, Xavier Estates Phase IV (Oct 3); Art & Connie Surdilla, Del Puerto Cpd., Macasandig (Oct. 4); Concon Ignacio, Fernhill Drive, Macasandig (Oct. 5); Pelagia & Imelda Uy, Oropack Cpd., Guinasahan, Iponan (Oct. 6); Raul & Antonietta Rodriguez, Tierra del Oro, Macasandig (Oct. 7);Francisco & Antonina Montuno, Upper Zone 2, Bulua (Oct. 8); Luis &Tuting Potenciano, Coca-Cola Cpd,, Aluba; (Oct. 9) Jonel & Nanette Bergado, Morning Mist Village, Pueblo de Oro (Oct. 10); and Manny & Josy Aliñabon, 14th-23rd Sts., Nazareth (Oct. 11).
The Fiesta Pilar celebration culminates with the celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass at Rosevale School on October 12.
As has been traditionally practiced by El Circulo for the past 53 years, a Cena Comunal follows the celebration of the mass at the Rosevale School, Mr. Nebrao said.
