Sanyo Rice Cookers - A Review of the 10 Cup ECJ-D100S Micom

Robin OBrien
My brother has always been a bit of a health nut. Even as a kid, he would always prefer an apple to a candy bar, or some other sweet snack, and loved it when we had fresh green veggies at our meals. When he moved out on his own, he bought himself a Sanyo 10 cup ECJ-D100S rice cooker, and began eating even healthier than he had before. He even started using it to make his own tofu, which I thought was a bit extreme, but that's the way he has always been.

I was over visiting a few weeks back, and the temperature outside was a bit cool. The first thing I noticed when I entered his house was the aroma of chilli. He offered me some, and brought over a bowl. When I complimented him on it, he told me that he'd made it with his Sanyo rice cooker, which kind of blew my mind. He told me that it has built-in functions for soups and stews, and chilli is just another form of stew, so he tried it out. I had to admit the result was spectacular.

When I got home, I started looking at rice cooker reviews. Sure enough, the Sanyo rice cooker is one of the best you can buy. It is packed with special features and functions that are intended to make doing the cooking easier than you had ever thought it could be. And the titanium coated inner bowl distributes the heat evenly while it cooks, mostly due to the special rounded bottom, resulting in rice and other foods that cook evenly and thoroughly.

I understood right away why my brother liked his so much, because a Sanyo rice cooker is perfect for steaming vegetables while it's cooking rice. Myself, I would have preferred a model like the ECJ-S35S, because I like bred a lot more than my brother, and it has integrated bread making functions. I guess that points out exactly what the rice cooker reviews meant about how a Sanyo rice cooker is one of the most versatile kitchen appliances you can buy.

I was a little surprised that my brother, who has a long reputation as a bit of a cheapskate, was willing to spend as much as he did for his Sanyo rice cooker. But I suppose that with all of the features and functions, it is really like getting several different things that only take up the space of a single crock pot, and that makes a lot of sense for him, because his kitchen isn't really very big at all.
