A Review of the Cateye Recumbent Gamebike Pro

A very popular way to encourage kids (and even adults!) to exercise more is to put them on a Cateye Recumbent Gamebike Pro. For video game enthusiasts of all ages, this is an entertaining way to get fit while playing games. In a sense, a Cateye Gamebike recumbent exercise bike is an advanced form of game controller, translating the movements of the rider into actions performed in the game. Sony's PS1 and PS2 together have more than 60 compatible games, and that doesn't even mention the Xbox and Nintendo systems.
There is little comparison for a Cateye Recumbent exercise bike because it is still unique in the way it presents exercise as a way to play games. It would be nice if the Cateye Gamebike had the integrated pedal resistance controls of other brands of exercise bike, but I suppose that owners of those bikes wish they could play PS2 games while they pedal, so it balances out in the end.
Another really innovative feature of Cateye Computer Bike is that game players can compete against one another by connecting up to four Cateye Gamebikes together. Imagine that., your child and three other friends, having a good time playing their favorite racing game, and none the wiser that you actually have them on a strict exercise program. Their favorite video games will take on new life, and parents often remark that their kids have rediscovered older games that had been all but forgotten and then integrated realistically with the Cateye Gamebike.
Look at other recumbent exercise bike reviews, but as I said, don't expect to find anything similar. You'll find exercise bikes with better frame designs, and exercise bikes with better seats, and still other exercise bikes with automatic resistance controls to simulate hills and level surfaces, but none of those models allow you to play popular video games as art of the exercise routine.
For people who are not as interested in video games, there are probably better models available from other companies, including the Reebok RB 310 exercise bike. But do keep in mind that a Gamebike is meant to transfer a person's physical energy into absorbing gameplay, not in games that are written for the bike, but games that the person may have already enjoyed playing, and will appreciate adding a new dimension to their fun.
For what it does, a Cateye Gamebike Recumbent exercise bike is an innovative idea. Parents are often pleased to find out their kids will actually enjoy finding an excuse to exercise, and in today's world of physical fitness concerns, a device like the Gamebike is sure to gain a huge following among health-conscious families.
