The G W B Errors

Ken Hughes
President Bush’s mistake was in thinking he could do what the world had been unable to do for four thousand years. Make peace between Muslim and Jew. If I may, was Bush thinking like a modern day Christian Crusader, or did he feel America was in imminent danger. Blaming Bush’s is to say the very least hypocritical, The UN Security Council, Liberal Democrats and the American Public stood on the side lines cheering him on when he made the decision to invade Iraq. They were incensed by 9/11 something that was short lived by most of the, “I Hate Bush Crowd.”

In these times of instant resolutions to wimpy decisions by cowardly leaders it was foolish of Bush to expect any extended support of his actions. American politicians no longer act like adult men and women. They go to the public via the polls for guidance and leadership while claiming to be our leaders, it’s an oxymoron.

One can support the president’s decisions or not, those who supported him then and turned on him are the same ones who will turn again when the next American Icon is destroyed. Their discussions are made by the flip of a coin.

This president beyond all others has been the brunt of malicious propaganda, innuendo and false accusations. There’s no way one man can be responsible in one lifetime for all the things blamed on this president. The American educational system is partially responsible for not teaching history and government, instead it teaches social justice according to liberal philosophies and political correctness.

There was a time when we elected men of conviction to go to Washington to administer the affairs of state. Now it’s who’s willing to spend the most money on a political campaign. Who makes the best physical impression on television? Intellect and ability are why down the list of qualifications.

The Bush administration has made countless errors in judgment in the six and a half years they been in charge. Now we must ask ourselves if their errors will exceed the errors of previous administration, how many of their errors are directly attributable to the errors of previous administrations. For some reason the congress is unwilling to assume shared responsibility. They shy from shared responsibility treating the presidency like a toothless monarchy. To paraphrase an anonymous old cliché “To error is human to deny responsibility is unforgivable.”

In my humble opinion peace between Arab and Jew is centuries away, democracy in the Muslim world is even further away. I believe it would be prudent of the Christian world to avoid any involvement until absolutely necessary for their own survival. President George Bush has bitten into a rotten apple his successor may have to spit out. Even though it was done with the best of intentions as they say the road to hell is paved with good intention.

A president can only be as good as the congress will support, they are the real power behind the throne.
