Those pocket pointers executives often whip out to highlight their power presentations may be too powerful -- even dangerous -- in the wrong hands.

Laser Pen Attracts UFO
Laser light pens increasingly are being used for unintended uses, a trend that is beginning to make many people see red.

Received a very interesting email from one of my readers - Brian Fahey. He states that a few years ago he and a friend named Neil were returning to Buffalo, New York from a trip East. They were driving South of Rochester where Route 5 and 20 split.

Brian's friend was a nut for gadgets had one of those high powered laser pens with a green laser light. He wanted to demonstrate it and Brian suggested holding it up to the windshield so that they wouldn't get a laser bounce back and harm our vision.

Brian recalls that the weather was cold and the sky was about 90% clear. "Neil pointed the laser at the moon which was a little to the left of straight ahead and above the horizon about 30 or 40 degrees. He pointed it at the moon and suddenly there was a point at which the laser had excited something and that something looked like it was a large sparkler in the sky", added Brian.

Brian immediately thought it was an aircraft and told Neil not to point the laser at an aircraft. But after their eyes adjusted, they didn't see any aircraft in the sky.

Neil again lit the laser and focused it at the moon but no sparkler, then he swept it across the sky and it again excited an object traveling toward Rochester (now to their right). At this point they were both spooked and turned off the light and continued enroute.

Brian suggests that those looking for UFOs might wish to acquire one of those high powered laser pointers.

He thinks that these lasers may attract UFOs even when the sky seems clear of aerial phenomenon. This may indicate that UFOs are invisible but always present in our night skies.

Editors Note: Lasers should not be pointed at aircraft, so if there is doubt as to the identify of an object - do not use aim the laser at the object. It also may be illegal and dangerous to point lasers at aircraft in the sky.
