Farm 215 Guided Horse Trail Rides: Gallop Over Sandy Beaches, Climb Fynbos Covered Slopes
Where else can you find the exciting combination of such a wide variety of riding environments, from running along sandy beaches, slowly climbing over steep fynbos-covered mountain slopes, splashing through open wetlands, or simply making your way along gravel roads through sparsely inhabited countryside!
Farm 215 is in partnership with the African Horse Company, which operates in the Western Cape province of South Africa, specifically in Cape Town, Hermanus, Stanford and the area of the Southern Overberg and the Agulhas Plains.
The aim of these horse trail rides by the African Horse Company is to offer visiotrs the opportunity to experience the horse in its role as travelling companion and friend. They make use of a number of South African crossbreeds, with the bloodlines Boerperd, Arab, Saddler and Friesian.
The type of vegetation you will encounter on these horse trail rides is the fynbos of the Cape Floral Kingdom, which is restricted to this part of the world.
Farm 215 horse trail rides can last anything between one hour and the better part of a day. However, the African Horse Company also has trails of several days available. These trails are fully catered and cover 25 to 35 km per day.
Apart from these wonderful and very unique out-rides, Farm 215 is well-known for its accommodation, which includes large and freestanding fynbos suites. With these units spaced out along a meandering path in the middle of pristine nature, the fynbos suites offer privacy and seclusion. The large windows and deck offer sweeping views over the unspoilt Agulhas Plains towards the ocean.
Other accommodation is offered in two guest-rooms on the first floor of the Farm 215 homestead. Separated by a hall, these rooms with wooden floors are spacious and light and enjoy endless views from the bed over this unspoilt part of the Overberg through large sash-windows.
Bathrooms en suite have bath and separate shower. One room has a king-size bed, the other room has twin beds in a king frame.
Each room has a study-table, comfortable chairs and ample packing-space. Though these rooms clearly have modern elements, they have a more traditional feel than the fynbos suites elsewhere on Farm 215.
