Send Your "Socialist" Security Checks My Way

Stan Grimes
I have been in a writing drought lately. All of the insanity broadcast on our media corporations (owned by GE and other super-rich corporations) has made me crawl inside my office closet. I donīt want to come out, but I have to eat. Though the birthers, Joe Wilson, nauseate me, I know President Obama is not a witch doctor and a nazi. McCarthyism ended a long time ago didnīt it? Itīs almost laughable if the darn right-wingers werenīt so serious about their own myths.

Do you know how much crappy email I get from friends and family that exposes a new President Obama sin? Is it okay to say bunches? I get these emails and then Iīm forced to check out the truthfulness of them. Not one has been a factual representation of the truth. Donīt get me wrong I love my friends and family, but I really get exhausted with the influx of scams, spam, and mythical tales about my president. You see, he actually is our President. Unlike Joe Wilson I donīt believe him to be a liar, at least no more than Glenn Beck or Lou Dobbs. If you believe those two talking heads are giving you an unbiased and fact-filled story about the President, Iīve got some swampland in Iraq I can sell you. Whoa, Stan, get your act together. Donīt go ballistic on us.

Itīs interesting I think that Republicans have such a short memory. I am sure itīs just a slip of thought, but have they forgotten the lies told by President Bush and his humorless sidekick, Dick, which led us into a war? A war that took the lives of over four thousand young men and women and still no WMDs, theyīve forgotten? Or, have they forgotten that Bush left our current administration with over a trillion dollars in debt. Gee, maybe theyīve forgotten that Bush signed the TARP fiasco costing citizens over 900 billion bucks. Your memories are so short.

Okay, so maybe you donīt care for our President. Thatīs okay. I didnīt like Bush One and Two, and Reagan was on a different planet when he deregulated "everything" and promised that his "trickle-down" financial policy would help everyone. Not one penny of that policy trickled down to my billfold. In fact, I spent much of his last term in office standing in the unemployment line. Can anyone remember 1982-83? Probably not because if you were unemployed during those years you were living under the umbrella of Reaganomics.

You think Obamacare is bad? I say give up your Medicare benefits and any VA medical benefits youīre receiving. Both of which just happen to be government-ran plans, but hey "donīt touch my benefits" right? Obamaīs a socialist? Well, I say give up your monthly Social Security check…itīs a socialistic program. If you donīt want your socialist income send it my way. God know I could use it. This writing stuff just doesnīt seem to be paying the bills.
